How revolting is to see that people just say this product doesn't work or is a fake just because it's made by Microsoft. Instead, just remember that this product has won the "best of LinuxWorld" award and that not everybody wants to run a 100% Unix or Linux environment and need to interoperate with NT/Win2000/Win2003. Fanatism is something will drive you to nowhere.

Old versions of GNU utilities. Horribly difficult to port to. This is a combination of Interix and the package formerly known as SFU. Bad shells. "Fake" POSIX compliance. Look - just try to port to this thing. Its far more simplistic than RedHat/Cygwin in a lot of ways. You'd think Microsoft would want to run down UNIX with a real implementation of the SYSV and BSD systems bolted on to an NT style kernel, but alas - its not the will but the lack of capability to do so. I dont hate MSFT for Microsoft's products, but the business strategies they, like this SFU, are half-assed, monopolistic, and guess what? Whatever you read on the Shrink Wrap box - that's a far cry from reality. Now the Interix part is a bit weak, but those MSFT kiddies who dont know Unix of Win32 unix style utilities might find the SFU part useful.

You know as well as I do that some people hate Microsoft and Bill Gates with an almost religious fervor. It's a shame that many people will denounce everything Microsoft creates sight unseen and un-executed.
