After installing WIn-XP SP3 the seek noise from my hard drive went up noticably and that was after defragging the drive. If you have SP2 with all critical updates then you don't need the SP3 update, and for those who think that SP3 will somehow make your system faster ... It won't!!!

Saw the same problem as stp33:
My desktop would hibernate without a problem, but then it would never be able to come back from hibernation. The progress bar would fill up when returning, but then the screen would just go and stay black. When I manually rebooted the system after this, it would tell me that "the last attempt to restart the system from its previous location failed."
I uninstalled SP3, and now my system hibernates just fine.

Works!
I installed a clean system, applied SP3 and then installed all my programs. I've had no problems with it and everything works great! Can't ask for more than that.
