Publisher's Description

The Codecs is the most completed, powerful and reliable compilation package of various audio and video codecs. It contains the best and newest codecs that are needed for playing most movies (Divx, VCD, SVCD etc.).

This version includes the following codecs: Divx (5) Free, DivX ;-) MPEG-4 Video (Fast&Low), XviD Koepi's build, ffdshow filter, Intel I.263 Video Driver, Huffyuv lossless video codec, AC3Filter (Audio), MPEG Layer-3 Audio Codec, InterVideo Audio Decoder, Moonlight Odio Dekoda, Ogg Vorbis Filter, and MM Stream Switcher.

Don't install a codec unless you need it AND if it can be uninstalled by ADD/REMOVE programs.

I've only manually installed ffdshow, AC3Filter and the Intervideo DVD decoder.

I had serious problems in the past with codec packs causing conflicts and degrading my video and audio quality.

Recommended programs are Zoomplayer and WMPClassic6.4.8.4 and you are pretty well covered. I also use the regular Windows Media Player (which actually will use the ffdshow filter when needed) and Musicmatch Jukebox Plus (although there are lots of free audio programs that work well)

Did you (or your antivirus) invent that virus? :)

Don't post stupid things! The package is clean.

Alot of redundant and obsolete codecs as well as a few that can be harmfull to your system.

If yer going to install DivX 5 you DO NOT need DivX ;-) 3.11 and infact DivX 5 will over write it and take controll over DivX 3 files. Further if yer installing FFDShow you do not need DivX 5. You dont need XviD either but FFDShow can use it's .dll file as an alternative so theres no harm in having it. huffyuv is also redundant if yer using FFDShow. Just to name a few...

Codec packs suck and yer better off just geting the codecs you need and installing them yerself.

I decided to go with a neutral rating of 3 rather then the 1 I feel it deserves (as all codec packs deserve) just to be fair as others opinions of codec packs differ.

After the newinstallation of WINDOWS XP I need a codex for AVI files, because a lot of .AVIs can not play correctly. Now it works again. This tool help me personally.

The Codecs changes Windows System files when installing. If you haven't an install CD it will be not possible to play any movie if you want to uninstall this buggy pack.
Plus, the forum support is completely unusufull. The author doesn't answer...

The correct codec pack is a good thing. Installing one means I never have to woory about something playing on my system. I have been using the KLite codec pack for almost 2 years now. Never had any problems. This pack seems nice but just does not compare to the KLite codec pack. Plus why would anyone put out a product as simple as a codec pack and have errors in the installation? Unacceptable!

I didn't want to select a rating here, but as far as my experience with Codec Packs goes, they do very bad things to your system (mess it up).

I would stay away from codec packs and install the needed codecs manually (I just keep setups of codecs I need).

This is the best codec pack that i know of. If you are having trouble playing movies and cant find the correct codec then try using this. It works perfectly for me and most of my friends use it also.

The only problem i can say that i have ever had with this codec pack is that it has had a few error messages pop up while installing, but other codec packs eg nemo have been much worse for that. but this version installed perfectly without a hitch on my pc.
