JavaFX looks similar to Flex, Flex though runs on Flash and JavaFX on Java VM.

Plus side for JavaFX - much much more libraries out there written for Java than for Flex, also Java Standard Edition API is very rich. Java has ability to display widgets in the native operating system's look and feel.

Downside - Flex has more mature UI-building tools, and Flash has better design and animation tools.

However, when the design tools for JavaFX are released, they will be free (unlike FlexBuilder).

Too many "platforms" out there. Let the dust settle for once?
