This program, is a good usernet reader. Though some say it's buggy. I haven't found any. The only problem with this program, is that it remains in beta. No wonder I constantly looking for usernet readers. Still I come back to this.
For me it's by far the easiest reader.

I've kept up with 40tude for several years, and although its developer is a genius, this godzilla of an app is just too complex for what you want to do — simply download pictures, videos, and mp3s from usenet quickly and easily as XNews does. Simplicity, my dear Watson, that's the ticket!

It's got some good ideas but the fact that I can't get a notification when a user response to one of posts and that I can't get a notification when someone posts to a thread I am participating in is just annoying.
If you like this newsreader you should check out XanaNews (yea I know, forget about the name). It's really great and does the same things as Dialog AND has the abilities I disscribed above. It's fast and you will never miss a reply to one of your conversations again.

There's a lot to like about 40tude Dialog, but a couple of things which rule it out for me.
I can move/copy an incoming email to a created folder, but I can't do the same for a file copy of something I've sent (if there's a way, I've just spent an hour overlooking it). When I open, say, my "Mike" folder I want to see email he's sent and email I've sent him. I need to be able to move items out of the "Sent" folder and file them in whatever folder they belong.
The other problem is the size of the file created. I've two tiny emails in "msg.dat" and the file size is 31K! I opened it up in a text editor and was amazed at the repetitions and blank categories of data.
Needs work. But it's very promising (the rating is largely based on that promise), and I'll come back and try it again further down the road.

Actually this app seems pretty polished, and *idea-wise*, offers the most critical features, imho, of a good newsreader (ie, multi-server, multi-threading capability). In actual use, however, it becomes way too complicated to get it set up to work easily.Having to write scripts just to be able to pull combined articles from two different servers simultaneously is too much hassle. And yeah, I know there are many folks who love to "customize" their settings, sorts, groups, etc. I'd just like something that is relatively simple to setup and start downloading. Oh wait...I already have it! It's called BNR2.
40tude shows promise for widespread use if they can simplify setup and option selection. As is, it is too cumbersome.

Definitely not stable. It does show a lot of promise. Reminds me alot of agent but has a long way to go. Where's the kill filter??? Not ignore - kill idiot posters permanently. Not much use without one today.

The function of the program is generally good. I like the way it handles news and e-mail in 1 program, and both are competent. I think the configuration and options menus have a long way to go. They're just not intuitive. One can search the help or peck away for hours trying to get everything configured to their taste. The entire menu system needs to be scrapped and re-done from scratch.

Not sure why this is just now getting posted, this has been out for around 4 months, just check the web site for the page. It is a really good program though.

This software came as a surprise to me: it's very stable for a beta, has an attractive lay-out and all the functions you can expect from a good newsclient. It even supports x-faces - they have little use but are quite entertaining :-)
