Nice program for the toolbox should a rainy day arrive for your 'friends'? Thanks.

I installed to hard drive, then downloaded the separate virus programs one-by-one. That worked fine. AVERT works as it should.
    I'll give it a 4.

Well, I can't get anything to work properly. I selected to download all the scanners, and only Asquared downloaded. I tried custom scan with Asquared, and it gave a error message and died. Avert did not reappear.
This was done from a USB drive. I'll try to install on hard drive later.

Not bad, not bad. I used to use multi av scan back when it was supported, but it wasn't near as good as this. Multi av scan made you download everything on your own and it was just awful.

    I'm lovin this though!

    thanks for the software

    bearbottoms,

You emailed me about this issue and I replied back with the "how-to" page, http://avertsoftware.com/howto.html, on my website.

The issue is that you haven't downloaded the scanners you've chosen, which is what AVERT is telling you. In order for AVERT to be a small package, I can't include any scanners with it. So you must download which scanners you want to use first. But you only need to download them once.

After they're downloaded, you can use them anytime. Please take a look at the how to and FAQ pages.

    Thanks

The problems I had were: Asquared was selected, but has not been downloaded and the same for ClamWin, Trend Micro, Sophos, Panda, and Vba32. None of the others were listed. I looked over the available options and see no way to remedy this. I thought this was supposed to be automatic, and eight engines were downloaded and used.

The following is a video that proves AVERT does not keep those files on your PC:

You're not listening. AVERT downloads those files because it needs to use them. And it's not as if I'm not being transparent. When I download them, the CLI clearly shows where it's being downloaded to.

And for future reference, I didn't scold you. I only stated what AVERT actually does and said that if anyone had any issues, to contact me first before posting a bad review without knowing all of the information.

I want a fair review, but I don't feel that you gave me that. You gave AVERT one star not knowing that the files are deleted. Check it out.

Download AVERT, download Asquared and run it with updates. AVERT will extract the Asquared files to that TEMP location in your user profile and the signatures will also be placed there. Once downloads are finished, it deletes the folder. I'll even make a video to prove it.

Also, I mentioned the MS thing because it's relevant. They say to place files there, so I do, but I don't keep them there.

Are you telling me if I delete AVERT, the junk files in my User folder would magically disappear?

I don't care what MS says, portable apps shouldn't fill up the Users folder with numerous large files. You're either part of the Windows bloat solution, or you're part of the problem.

Look, I appreciate your offer of user support. It shows class, and that you want to succeed. However, you should learn to use a little restraint when talking to your users in public. Developers normally don't scold their users. You think my review was harsh and unfair? "You ain't seen nothing yet"! Even if your program is wonderful, scolding people is never in your best interest. I know all the DL sites, I know a lot of people, and I'm not a guy you should get nasty with. If you want an honest appraisal of your software, I suggest you go back and change the tone a little bit while the reviews are still editable, because I think we both want things to be fair, and make all this go away before it gets out of hand.
