Only ok AV (there are many better ones, including free Avast), the firewall is poor, and the interface is absolutely hideous. Not even free would this be a very good choice, much less when you have to pay for it.

Although the UI is ugly, it is easy to use, with all components easily accessible. I'm sure it uses less memory than many of the more fancy interfaces available.

I have used AVG Free since it came out. It has never given any problems, has done the job for me. And I like the interface. I find it easy to read, the interface on some programs suffer from their "slickness".
