Active Keys is a tool for creating and managing keyboard shortcuts (hotkeys). It allows to perform a lot of actions with a single keystroke. Using system wide hotkeys you can control CD Audio, Winamp, Windows Media Player, sound volume, display resolutions and colors, open documents and websites, start programs, send emails, start screen saver, perform a lot of windows manipulations, type current time and/or date, or you can associate any text with the hotkey and paste it anytime with a single keystroke, and more.
Reviewing 2.21 (Jul 1, 2005)
A well-implemented app, but I've graduated to AutoHotkey, which, after reading the Intro, will do far more than Active Keys.
Reviewing 2.11 Beta (Nov 20, 2004)
An excellent piece of work.
Not quite a five for being shareware, and not the best of its type i've seen; Nuonsoft's Shell Enhancer does the exact same thing and a lot more for free.
Reviewing 2.03 (Jul 4, 2004)
Pricey, but very well designed and easy to setup. Like As-U-Type, once you get accustomed to it, you won't want to live without it.
Reviewing 1.04 (Dec 14, 2002)
This software does exactly what it is supposed to do and does it very well.
It uses very little CPU time and runs in the background like a dream.
I've tried many similar utilities, but ActiveKeys 1.04 does the best job with ease.
Reviewing 1.02 Beta (Oct 20, 2002)
i run this prog under w2k & run it as service. great. no need for extra key keyboards. best from the best, must have. damn, shareware :(
