Adblock Plus picks up where Adblock left off. It is a content filtering plug-in for the Firefox browser. It is both more robust and more precise than the built-in image blocker. It allows the user to specify filters, which remove unwanted content based on the source-address. Every time a webpage loads, it will intercept and disable the elements matching your filters.
- “Block” tab on Flash and Java is no longer permanently visible
- Diagnostics page under chrome://adblockplus/content/errors.html
- Handling of HTTP redirects
- Blocking entire domains with filters like ||example.com^
- Domain exceptions in element hiding rules
- Performance and memory use improvements
Reviewing 1.1.1 (Apr 11, 2012)
Becoming a bit disappointed with AdMuncher, so looked into this. Nice work. With a lite ad block list to my Windows Hosts file and AdBlock filtering(including Fanboys), I get just as much satisfaction with the blocked content as I do with AdMuncher. So, I may drop my AdMuncher subscription next time around.
For those that find BetaNews too slow to load(plus some other sites) who don't use Facebook, add the following to your filter list in AdBlock...
||facebook.com/plugins/*
...And notice the great improvement.
Same goes for Twitter(for those that don't use it)...
||twitter.com^

Does not slow down the browser, safe, fully compatible with other Adds-ons, with adding filters it can even be effective for keeping sites away. (security consideration)
Absolutely effective. Now it upgrades to 1.2.

Working good with both Seamonkey and Firefox. You don't know how valuable this plug in is till you use a pc/browser that doesn't have this. I know IE has its IE pro, but it doesn't seem to catch as many ads as this plug in.

This plus Rick752's excellent filters (EasyList, EasyElements) form a powerful couple against nasty ads on most websites. I wonder why this hasn't been built into Firefox by default.

While it is true that you can't help support a friendly website by clicking ads you CAN'T SEE....
I can't imagine browsing without this necessary extension.
