Zee7, there are no creative people using Linux. In fact, there are no people using linux. Linux cannot be used by people, only by filthy, lazy, unemployed programmers and then only to tinker with linux itself, not to do anything creative. You should have restricted your statement to 'PC'.

Kvo, your statements demonstrate your ignorance. Twenty years ago MacOS may have been the platform of choice for designers, illustrators, and photo editors, but obviously that isn't the case any longer. Back then, Photoshop, Quark, Illustrator and most other "creative" applications were released for Macs first because the programmers who made these applications worked on Macs. If your statements are to be believed, that would mean that the other 95% of the current computer market who use PCs, Linux, etc. contain very few pro photographers and creatives. That's not only ridiculous, but completely untrue. Do you seriously think that most MS Windows users are only working with Office, Excel, and other non-creative apps? Get real. Stop parroting what the fanboys tell you and use your brain. Or, if you don't want to do that, use Google.
The only reason Lightroom was released on the Mac platform first was because Apple released Aperture v1.0. Aperture was slow, buggy and overpriced; this p*ssed off many customers. Adobe saw their opportunity and took it; they released the Lightroom beta in hopes of stealing Aperture's customer base. It was a smart business move to release Lightroom for Mac first; nothing more. The Windows market is already overcrowded with this type of software, and Adobe realized the Mac market had more immediate potential.

Gerwin, your remarks are even more boneheaded than Kvo's. Ever hear of The Gimp? Or VariCAD? How about Inkscape, Figurine, Sketsa, TGIF, Moho, Sodipodi, and AC3D? Didn't think so. Now go back under your bridge like a good little troll and catch some billy goats.

A very useful, usable piece of software. I would like to do a head-to-head with Apple's Aperture, but they (Apple) don't have a trial version. iPhoto is great for casual MAc users (and its integration with the rest of Apple's iLife suite make it more suited to the hobbyist) but pros will find a lot to love in Lightroom. This is also the first Adobe app that is a universal binary, so it, unlike Photoshop, runs natively on the new Intel Macs. One caveat: as a reviewer noted elsewhere, this program generates a LOT of metadata for its library.

Eventhough Mac only made up 5% of the PC's market, yet it's HUGE in the creative world. I goes to Photography seminars all the time and 80% of the people there uses Macs. The instructor always uses Macs.
That is why Adobe lightroom is release on MacOS first, because that is what most professional photographers use.
