AltaVista Toolbar is free, customizable and gives you the research tools to perform searches and translations from your browser anywhere on the web.

ahhhhh thanks for pointing that out. I didn't have the page information icon showing on my googlebar for some reason. Still, babelfish is superior, allowing you to translate not just to english, to to a number of other languages. Anyway, thanks for pointing it out to me!

Not as good as Google's, but AltaVista's does have one advantage: translation! Now all we need is for a third-party developer to develop a toolbar that search's using Google's search engine(s) and translates using AltaVista's Babelfish feature... then I'd give it six stars. :-)

I give it a 3 because it's a good try - but I agree with the others here that the Google one is better. And to the person who made the comment about translations - hey the google one has that feature too! Click on the little "i", then you'll see a small menu - it's the last option on the menu - "translate to english".

Blatant Rip-off. It looks, feels and acts the same as the Google toolbar. Let the 'Toolbar War' commence ....
