Archetype is not designed to be a full blown content management system; instead it is designed to make it easier for you to keep in touch with your family, friends and peers. Archetype uses XML files to store everything because we also wanted to give you total control over your information. Archetype was also designed to give you peace of mind and security. IST does not store your blog articles, images, or related data on central servers that are inaccessible to you and outside of your control.
Yes - 30 day timeout
ASP.NET 1.1
Yes
- In this BETA this feature is not mentioned in the administration panel to active it you must modify AT_Config.Config manually. Set the value of the “PhotoAlbum_CustomSortIndex” key to “True” to activate custom sorting. Then edit PhotoAlbums.config sett
- If site title, site description, or article title contained reserved XML characters invalid RSS feeds were generated
- Date sorting issue on default.aspx (Web Journal main page)
- Image Descriptions load properly when two separate images in two separate albums share the same name
- Trailing slash no longer mandatory for album location. Meaning "~/Albums/Me" is just as good as "~/Albums/Me/" and won't result in the often confusing "Image Not Found" message
- Error.aspx now shows application errors that occur during the install wizard

I dont know if you reviewed the site and its information corrrectly.
1. The BETA versions are in fact free, the price goes into effect once we have finished beta testing.
2. The requirements on this page list ".NET Framework 1.1" this should not have been a suprise.
I' am not aware of any other apps that does everything out app does. Our Dynamic Image Scaler for instance creates thumbnails and downscales images for visitors w/ no storage space needed.
More webhosts are starting to carry ASP.NET 1.1 due to the fact the open source Mono project www.go-mono.org has already been released version 1.0.
Reviewing 2.0.0.33848 RC1 (Jul 16, 2004)
Just a few additional information regarding to this software.
1. It's NOT free!! It costs $19.95.
2. It's built on ASP.NET 1.1 technology.
3. It's demo site is at http://www.thinkist.net/.../Archetype/default.aspx
Apart from that, the this blog software looks simple and tidy. However the ASP.NET support is rare on standard web hosts and there are plenty of PHP-based script do exactly the same and most of them are FREE...
