This is an excellent open source sound editor. Simple enough GUI that you don't need to be a rocket scientist to use with multiple tracks so you can splice and dice various streams easily.
Worth a try.

BTW, if you want it to be like another program that costs money...go buy the other program or become one of the open source developers instead of whining.

Want changes? Ask the developers, don't post it here! Seriously, do you really expect them to read your thoughts? Because they probably don't read Betanews.
Shorter release cycle: Audacity team promised to release new alpha-version every two weeks in following 3 months.
1.3.6 is expected in fall 2008. And let me tell you that 1.3.6 will ROCK.
About MDI: Microsoft says that MDI is obsolete. And it isn't supported on all platforms anyways.
