Reviewing 2011 Build 14.0.24.330 (Nov 10, 2010)
Slow and buggy UI which crashes a lot (the engine itself seems solid). Overall Bitdefender 14 seems *very* comprehensive, if not particularly friendly. Quite configurable, but some of the defaults are a bit odd - if you dig around you'll see. Seemed to do very good finding existing malware but not quite as great at blocking new infections. BD is also more expensive than just about anything except Kaspersky, which isn't helpful considering its issues. If the console becomes more optimized and less twitchy, and the realtime protection improves a little I think BD will be a top contender..maybe even worth the price.
I would've put a 4 but we need to balance out tolique's self-serving little post, so only a 2 for you, BD :)
Reviewing 2009 RC (Jul 28, 2008)
I don't think any of you have tried the new, this is not meant to be insulting , but you are talking about old versions. This is something totally different, a new version that is optimized for best performance when it comes to system resources. If you consider a back-up and cleaning feature is "bloatware", then you can always use a simple version like, BitDefender Antivirus.
I really thing you should try the RC after you proper uninstall the old version. I'm saying this because it's not really fair-play to trash a new version of a product by comparison with the old ones.
Sincerly,

Reviewing 2009 RC (Jul 24, 2008)
I was a registered user for a few years. then they became bloatware and less protective against newer virus.
Its pretty ridiculous for an admitted employee of a software company to post a five-star "review" which is nothing but an admonishment of the reviewers! BN needs to delete that post, nullify its rating and block any such self-serving posts in the future.
