CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. Additionally it contains a fully featured registry cleaner. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware.

I had to go to skype forums to see the resolution, not ccleaner's forums.

I love it, it really is a must have, however.. I have been waiting for along time for the developer to add "wipe empty space" option and he finally did, I think it should be more attached tool than an option, like a popup tool with user friendly interface, right now its just another option in ccleaner and its disabled by default.

The best piece of (free) clean-up software out there, I did have problems a couple of builds back but it now seems that was a bug connected with Firefox. 10 Stars.

If ya ran into problems then go to piriform.com and find CCleaner forum and post your problems there , quite weird that it could ruin Skype on some systems :(

"The registry cleaner, however, is so weak it is almost useless. Of course that makes it very safe and it can be trusted to do no harm, but I would really like to see that part of the program strengthened while still maintaining that safety and trustworthyness."

There is no benefit to cleaning the registry. ccleaner has screwed up several other products' installs in an attempt to do so (I can think of skype and logitech software off the top of my head.)

Ran into the compatibility view issue recently, annoying.

Product seems to have slowed significantly with the last 3-4 months worth of updates.

I haven't used this product in a while and when my PC gets full, I'll use it to clean clean it out.

CCleaner doesn't install ask.com but Yahoo! toolbar. It's recommended that you should install the Slim version.

Not only that, but it tries to install ask.com on your computer! :-O

I hear you! I had to reinstall my OS because I used the registry cleaner! With such small files being installed into the registry, just leave it alone. There is NO WAY that any registry cleaner could possibly know all of the file names that program writers make up and install. BAD IDEA!

Everyone here seems to have lots of love for this program, but today it killed my wife's laptops registry. I think it would of great help if the registry list of "problems" had a collumn with the origin of the file, so you can see if it is a valid entry, or something that really should be deleted. because lets face it, does anyone really know exactly what every dll file does- by name?
How do we make an informed choice on which to delete or not delete?
