This is probably the best CD cover display program/plugin out there. The GUI and skins are nicely done. The features are neat too - it has a seeking bar for playing songs and a next track/previous track button which can be used from the program's UI. You can also set it to download the cover automatically from Amazon.com. Highly configurable and good for beginner users and advanced users who want to manage the storage of CD cover display images.

Great new version!

But the alternative cover still isn't working. I tried everything (*front.jpg,front.jpg,*front*.jpg) It is always showing the first cover in alphabetic order which is the back cover in the most of the time. (because b(ack) ist before f(ront)). Would be great if this problem could be fixed.

Wow, fantastic programm. Id looks great on any Desktop, and its a juwel for everybody, who likes to style up his desktop.

Much better as aveTunes, wich nearly gots the same look, but only works good with iTunes.

For Winamp, this is the best choice. Try it, and you never will uninstall it unless you desktop is to overweight ;)

Its ALWAYS showing the back cover. I just selected Alternative cover (at selected settings).
I don't know why. Front and back covers are the same image size. Covers are the same image type.

It was working well before RC3!

I'm very happy of it,
My mp3s are almost all tagged,however,for few of them it can't read the cover even if it's well tagged (tagged with "the godfather" software with jpg covers)like my other mp3s, so I don t really understand why these covers are not showed by cd case.
So one thing will be good it's to add a cover directly in the tag of the mp3 by sliding a cover on cd case windows!
Except for that, the versions are better and better,I advise it very much

Beta 9 has problem with Chinese and Japanese (possibly other international char). If the folder name is in Chinese or Japanese, the cover is not shown although the file is there in the folder. Beta 8 is fine.

Program looks nice, but the cover / title windows constantly blink/flash. I went into options because all of my art is saved as cover.jpg and I could only type 1 letter before the flashing tasked it out and back then another letter followed by another flashing.

I like how it displays the CD case but that flashing gets old real quick. Look forward to newer & better versions.

So far I like it alot! Couple of observations:

The Track & Artist information box disappears if you move the CD Case to a new loctaion on the desktop. (it finally re-appears when the next track is played)

It would be great if it would also display the CD Cover when playing a regular audio CD from the CD Drive (not just MP3's).

It would be cool to have small Play, Pause, Stop, Next & Previous buttons under the CD case (or under the Artist & Track info box).

The issue is related to a corrupted ID3v2 tag (picture tag) or a ID3v2 tag that WCC can't handle.

To avoid the issue, remake the song's tag or disable ID3v2 (Options>Cover>Read Cover and uncheck "Always read ID3v2 tag").

The only thing that I don't like is that now you've to install the program instead of just extract it. I guess that's because you've to make the program to be available as a plug-in in Winamp.

Very nice, promising program, but Beta 3 has a nasty bug where it appears to freeze, mem usage in Task Manager shows 100MB+ and it starts to hog the CPU.

I don't particularly care for the interface or options dialog and it'd be nice if it searched more sites, but I love it overall.

The program was tested in a lot of different computers by many beta testers.

This kind of system freeze was not reported yet and it's not a normal behavior of Windows XP. In addition, Winamp CD Case has a "trap error system", which means: if something went wrong the program will show the error and skip the bugged procedure.

So, or you don't use Windows XP or something really, really unusual happened (e.g. programs incompatibility).

Make sure your PC meets the system requirements: Windows XP, Visual Basic runtime 6 and Winamp 5.

Finally, say to other FileForum's users "don't download" is a overreaction. Calm down!

Only problem I see is that the search sometimes seems to cache results or something. It seems to want to use a previously downloaded image for songs I play, even though the songs are by different artists.

Winamp CD Case is not an upgrade or an update of Winamp Cover Notifier.

It's just another (new) program to show cover like in a CD jewel case.

It's not a notifier. It's just a Winamp front end (you can control Winamp with this new program).

In addition, Winamp CD Case uses the same "folder.jpg" pattern, but you can configure an alternative art name (e.g. "cover.jpg") too (like you did in Winamp Cover Notifier).

Just see the Readme.txt to see all the nice things you can do!

Well, I started with Winamp Cover Notifier, which must be the precurser to CD Case. I liked Cover Notifier -- particularly the way it worked out the the task tray. I think I won't use either of these proggies. I didn't expect a complete change of program functionality after renaming all my covers for use with Cover Notifier.

I like this app a lot. It crashes a lot when I'm doing things in the options dialog, but that's expected for an alpha. I like that the development is steady and useful new features keep being added. One thing I'd like to see is the ability to drag and drop an image onto the Winamp CD Case app and have it automatically save the image to a designated folder and assign this image to the current song. Other than that keep up the good work.

This is a very good idea, very good little utility. It's nice to be notified of the album coming up or to call it up. I made my alternative art name "cover.jpg" and that doesn't offend me to change the jacket front name to that. I do keep all my albums each in a separate folder so it fits my database.

It's the kind of utility that I will probably consider an essential in about 6 months and as I get more conscious of saving album art.

1.2. You organize your musics in folders (e.g. one folder per CD);
1.3. In each folder you save the CD's cover following Windows XP pattern: folder.jpg

In addition, the image can't be hidden or something similar.

I like this one. I have a "folder.jpg" picture in each folder for my albums and it works great.
I also would like to have this as a plugin. And one cool thing would be if you could export the.. well the data for shoutcast purpose. So I could show the cover of the artist/album thats playing right now.

Cool idea. I'd prefer it be a plugin if possible, but its memory usage is extremely low as it is. I don't understand why it isn't working though. According to the readme, it should display folder.jpg, but it isn't, and it won't display albumart.jpg either.

UPDATE:
Figured it out. This program can't read hidden files. I threw in a picture and renamed it folder.jpg and it worked fine because it wasn't hidden...and the albumart/folder files' checkbox to unhide is greyed out because XP has them as system files for some odd reason.
