ChrisTV Professional can control your TV Tuner Card. TV on your PC with high quality image and sound. Supports all TV Cards based on BT8x8 chipset, Philips SAA713x chipset, Conexant CX23881, also works with any Capture Device but only in preview mode. With the trial edition, recordings from TitanTV listings limit themselves to 45 minutes.

Note: Registered users of earlier versions of ChrisTV Professional should check their e-mail for instructions from the manufacturer for installing this new version, and then unlocking its feature limitations (e.g., recording time limited to 40 minutes).

The Lite version is free for non-commercial use.

ChrisTV has the following other editions available: ChrisTV Professional and ChrisTV Standard.

It doesn't work with my tv card Leadteak Winfast Tv2000 xp it has the same problem as the default Winfast PVR2 program... horizontal lines on the screen. Dscaler works better!

Recently I was looking for a simple, free program that can display what's coming through my capture card, and I couldn't believe how hard it was to find one! There were some Windows Media Center clones, but they were complicated, and they wouldn't do a simple thing like just show me what's coming through my capture card. Then somehow I found ChrisTV Lite and my problem was solved! The viewer program that came with my capture card is junk, and it would crash and take the computer with it sometimes. I looked for open source alternatives, but came up basically empty-handed. Well, at least I found this freeware, even if it isn't open source. Another program I use, VirtualDub, is open source, and can display video from your capture card in capture mode, but it doesn't do a true fullscren (it still shows a border with some program functions). That's where ChrisTV comes in. I haven't tried the tuner on it, but for displaying my DVD player, VCR or video game system hooked up to my capture card, it works great and has a full screen mode that makes your monitor act just like a TV. ChrisTV Lite has a lot of features and it definitely works good enough to deserve a 5, especially for a free program! Please keep this free version going, and if you ever decide to stop it in any way, please make it open source so it can continue to be enjoyed and worked on!

As Hauppauge STILL HAVEN'T supported their analogue 881 Board for Vista, this application may finally give me access again to TV. Pity though that FM Radio isn't supported without the add-on option for the freeware version. *EDIT* The Hauppauge UK site has Vista driver downloads. The US site only has a non working beta from Nov 2006. May not have to use Chris TV after all?
