CloneCD is a powerful CD-Copy program. It writes in Raw mode, which allows it to have total control on the data written. Therefore, it will produce real 1:1 copies of your CDs. Because of its special operation, it requires a CD-Writer which is capable of writing in this mode.

    CloneCD is simple and good. The best for its purpose.

    @@@@@@ROOTKIT WARNING @@@@@@@@@

    (see below for more information)

    I contacted SlySoft regarding this rootkit information and they told me that their software does indeed install a rootkit -- their driver.

    Take it how you will. Personally, I don't like rootkits in my system; they should've at least told us first

    UPDATE:
    @rotjong
    AFAIK, the key returned whenever I ran CloneDVD/CloneCD, but this may not be the case with AnyDVD.

    I've used CloneCD for about four years, and it works flawlessly. I paid for it once and every update since has been free. It allows me to make backup copies of my game and other CDs, and it's "Hide CD-R" feature allows me to play games using a burned CD (so my kids and I can play the same game without having to pass around the original and get it scratched up). It's an easy "5" rating.

    Not really an update for me since I'm not running Vista but CloneCD 5.3.0.0 is still working essentially flawlessly, as usual, on my XP Pro SP2 system.

    The Zepter issue is an old one. I'm unsure if CloneCD ever employed it or whether it was only an AnyDVD issue. Regardless, it wasn't a rootkit. Its sole purpose was in deal with trial usage of AnyDVD. SlySoft, itself, has stated they added the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Zepter Software] so arguing that point is moot. The real argument is whether it's an actual security threat or not. For those truly paranoid people it's easy enough to remove with Sysinternals RegDelNull. Though I tend to be on the paranoid side, myself, this never bothered me. But, to prove a point I deleted the key and it didn't reappear when I restarted AnyDVD so I'm assuming they've changed how it works. Nonetheless, people need to worry about more nefarious companies and their software. SlySoft isn't evil.

    Note: Removed the key, restarted AnyDVD without the key returning. Installed AnyDVD 6.0.9.9 and rebooted without the key returning. Moot issue.

    Well i have anydvd, clonecd and clonedvd2 and i did a complete scan of my registry and there is no zepter software anywhere to be found you may have got it from some other software you installed.

    The links that stisev posted dont prove slysoft has installed zepter.
