Publisher's Description
CpuIdle lowers the CPU temperature by disabling it when not needed. This prolongs the CPU life (a decrease by 10°C doubles the life span) and cuts power consumption. Unlike normal power management, it is active all the time and works even when you're actively using your computer.

You're not going to see ANY results under Windows XP, simply because that platform doesn't need CpuIdle; it has a built-in function that does the same exact thing. Windowx 9x is a different story.

Has anyone had any success using this program in Windows XP? I can't check my temp on my MoBo from windows. I'd like to hear your results.

6.0 Beta 6 adds finally 3 options to advanced chipset cooling, it finally works at all my systems, also i noticed problem with older K7 with 0.5 multipliers get better (and is known) ...
so my rating is going back to 4 (because no freeware for home use)

its kinda strange... version 6 doesnt work for me at all, it just has no cooling effect. i'm currently using 5.9 and it cools my cpu down from 51°C to about 42°C, thats why i'm giving it 5 stars.

Still using Beta3. Installed Beta6 and it no longer works.
Reinstalled Beta3 and it's working again.
I'll still give it 4 flaming turds because when it works, it works well.

Well, the functions are very nice.
It cooled my CPU from idle 50C into idle 29C
Only one problem....
it's shareware.. not freeware.

Didn't lower my CPU temp a single degree. In fact, my CPU temp went *up* several degrees while using CpuIdle. Also claimed it couldn't find Motherboard Monitor 5, even though MBM was installed and running at the time. Since NT/2000/XP already treat idle CPU time correctly (unlike 9x), I'm not sure why there's even a version of CpuIdle for non-Win9x users. It's completely unnecessary.

I've been using CPUIdle and CPUIdle pro on multiple platforms, and it's excellent. I push my machines hard and they are ALWAYS on. I monitor temps using software and embedded chipsets and external probes in key places on my systems. No probs, runs great, keeps my machines cool. If you have problems with it, it's likely you have a problem with your OS and/or operating environment.

Well you guys were right It lowers the temp bout 10 degrees on an asus a7m with an athlon 1.4 problem is it makes my puter running xp very unstable lockups when I go to play games or when my screensaver runs I close cpu idle problem goes away Im bummed I liked the cpu running cooler but not at the expense of locking up to bad

Very good program. I have an Abit BP6 with dual celeron 500s. When CpuIdle is running my temps are about 20 degrees lower than without it. Yes the CPU usage goes to 100%, that means with CpuIdle it is running in full pause mode. That is why it works so well.

This program has done wodners to stabalize the temperature on my computer. I have a dual 366 celeron machine on an A-Bit BP6. Both CPUs are overclocked to 500 and this program shows a noticable temperature drop of 5 to 10 degrees Celsius within minutes of starting it. And yes I have tried other methods of cooling the CPUs...i.e. sanding them flatter, there are 8 fans in my case, good heatsinks, etc.
