DNS Redirector 6.4.6
Publisher's Description:
DNS Redirector is designed for wireless hotspots, hotels, cafes, schools and libraries, but applicable on any network, even at home with one or multiple PCs. Use it to show users a welcome, advertisement, or terms and conditions page the first time they try to browse the Internet on your network. Choose to redirect any domain name matching your keywords list to a blocked or access denied page. Perfect for filtering out advertisements, online games, spyware, or pornography. Prevent network users from downloading and signing onto instant messaging and file sharing clients. Protect valuable bandwidth by blocking large MP3 downloads or questionable material. Optionally log all program actions and sites found to be blocked.
DNS Redirector is free for use by individuals, non-profits, educational institutions, small business (those with 50 employees or less), and local ISPs (those operating within 5 counties or less). Otherwise a commercial license is required, which includes 1 year of tech support.
Latest Changes:
- Some domains would not or not consistently resolve to the blocked page if the site uses DNS-based GSLB (multiple A records) a.k.a. DNS Redirector works much better with IE7
- Client count may be logged as a negative number when JoinType=Auth
- Installer prompts if you want to overwrite update.bat (to give you a chance to backup your earlier/outdated version), there are no changes to update.bat included between v6.4.5 and v6.4.6
- 2 new ad sizes are now detected and able to be replaced
- Corrected an error when suggesting the real site for a wwww. typo
- Depending on your customizations you may need to backup your /blocked.asp, /config.asp, and /login/* files before expanding the new .zip in your blocked site root folder
- Customize your blocked page in the /notice.asp file (instead of /blocked.asp)
- Remove the diagnostic text, or add google analytics code simply in one place /footer.asp (instead of every page)

The comments below are referring to an older version where the number of simultaneous clients were limited based on license type, with v6.4.5 there are no client limits.

PostDeals, use the free download- Personal Edition, it works for up to 5 clients without any time limits. Every 24 hours, you could stop and start DNS Redirector late at night, which effectively kicks everyone off, and they would have to authenticate again the next day. Realize that if they never really leave (dis-associate from your wireless, or close their browser) then they will continually be able to resolve any cached lookups until those records expire (which varies by website).

Should at least have 15 day trial I want to see a feature of timeout etc. I want to setup my own hotspot but want the user to be able to login every 24 hours or their WIFI expires after 24 hours and have to login again.
