DivX Player Lite is a free and easy to use video player that contains the software you need to watch and create videos in today's most popular video formats. It includes many advanced features, such as enhanced video quality, more effective compression capabilities, full-screen mode, hotkeys controls, and an intuitive interface, yet it is a compact media player and is capable of running on very old computers.
DivX Player Lite comes equipped with DivX video codec, XviD video codec, MPEG-2 video decoder, MPEG-4 video decoder, and AC3 filter and can play DivX, XviD, AVI, ASF, WMV, MPEG, VCD, MOV, DAT, and other video formats. DivX Player Lite is not advertising supported, nor does it require registration, and no information is collected from or about product users. It is very small and easy to use. It comes complete with full install and uninstall. In short, it is the quintessential tool for anyone who wants to play video files on their computer.

Get these programs instead: Zoomplayer Standard, BSPlayer and Windows Media Player v6.4.8.4
Codecs: ffdshow and ac3 filter

You may also need a filter for subtitles, 3ivx decoder and a vorbis decoder but the above covers most.

BEWARE!
Anyone familiar with emule p2p applications knows, that emule++ - which is the devoloper of so called "DivX Player Lite" distributes also an emule port called "emule++". And that one, as REAL authors of emule+ program claim, is an hacked version of their app, modified in the way it can be dangerous. emulepluplus.de website is "fake", misleading user with original emule+ website. Trojans and viruses had been reported. This app is an obvious hack of orignal divx player.
One more thing - since when, the very first released version is called 2.0? Shouldn't that be v0.1 or 1.0?.... USE AT OWN RISK BOTH EMULE++ AND DIVXPLAYER LITE!

The official (free)DivX player contains adware, so this is definitely a worthy download in my books.
