Using the X10 CM11a computer interface and X10 passive IR motion detectors (Hawkeye, etc.,) Doberman can help deter intruders and warn you of possible break-in by sounding alarms and sending email messages to up to four addresses (work, pager, celularphone, etc.). Doberman supports four alarms types, from security and fire to flood and temperature. Doberman supports delayed entry and instant alarm modes. Support for panic buttons is also included.

The second piece of major functionality is Home Automation. Doberman can monitor lamps, motion detectors, light sensors, and other devices being turned on and off and, using the visual macro builder (Action Spider) you can build macros or actions that might say "If A5 is off (a5 is a Dusk/Dawn sensor) and it is before 11:00pm, turn on A6 (the porch light). " and a second action that says, "If it's after 11:00pm, turn off A6 (the porch light)". (see screen captures below for these actions.) Later we'll explain why these actions work better than others.
