Tested Latest Version 2.x

I would give this a 5, but I've tested three times within 3 years and this newer version is just the same as before. I always come to the same process. Remove it off the system, because it hangs other software from:

Pro
1. can really protect your system
2. if you don't mind the many popups

Cons
1. installing correctly
2. freezes the system
3. way to many pop-up messages
4. can't detect if the software is removed or not

No matter what I use it still does the samething block the worng software from installing. I have never seen it block anything other than the software I try to install.

Well it's for free what else can you do try or not?

Excellent software. I love how light on resources it is, how simple it is, and that it's freeware. I had no issues using it but ended up uninstalling it in favor of comodo (in order to define more flexible rules which DSA lacks).

I downloaded this programme to test after reading the reviews it seems a good freeware programme but on the testing stage it was showing one port closed & not in stealth mode. Comodo Norton etc never show a closed port just need some feed back on this.

This piece of software really amazes me! I thought this was a pretender. After reading the reviews and trying it myself, I can say this is a heavyweight contender among Firewalls. Thanks DSA!

My recommended settings:

Sensitivity Threshold: 10
Training Period: 14 days
Require user approval for each alert: Tick all boxes

Passed:

DNSleaktester and PCFlank leaktests not to mention all other leaktests DSA passed.

------------------

DSA is a HIPS with a Firewall. You can use it alongside a Firewall of your choice. Me, I use it with TINY Firewall Desktop Pro. This is an excellent addition to your PC security.

Anti-trojan, Anti-leak, HIPS, Anti-Rookit, low footprints, Free.

Perfect? No, and so are other PC security softwares. Paid or Free.

Dynamic Security Agent (DSA) was recently tested and proven effective again ITW malware of all sorts.

I have used DSA for over 1 year. It has given me superb protection. DSA is a combination firewall & behavior blocker.

Firewall -- DSA makes ports invisible to port scans and protects unauthorized entry the same as a dedicated firewall. DSA contains a layer-3 firewall using Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) technology running in the background.

DSA also provides protection for TCP, UDP, ICMP and and UDP Protocols.

HIPS -- DSA has 4 configurable/trainable modules in its interface (System Anomaly, Email Anomaly, Process Detection, and Application Security). DSA detects malware and intrusions based on behaviors characteristic of unauthorized system use. Examples include but are NOT limited to the following:

- Attempts to access a protected registry area
- Attempts to access a protected object
- Attempts to Initiate a foreign process
- Attempts to control Windows service
- Attempts to create a DNS request
- Attempts to initiate outgoing TCP traffic
- Attempts to SMTP more than your personal average amount of email
- Abnormal cpu usage for any given process
- Abnormal number of threads for any given process

Thus, DSA has strong Firewall capabilities PLUS its 4 Modules provide superb behavior-blocker HIPS-type capabilities. I highly recommend it.

Excellent private firewall, passed all online port scans and leak tests. Much better than Zone Alarm Pro and Outpost Pro. Excellent application security and process detection. Uses very low system resources compaired to other security products and is free. Doesn't slow down your system.

Addition. Provides outbound protection too. If Microsoft will only examine this piece of beauty, they will change their windows firewall which absolutely sucks, with this one.

i really like this but i cant say its the best HIPS out there but i can say is its very good and conflicts with less applications than better HIPS do such as cyberhawk. it also uses less system resources. so its a simple solution for those who want a lil added protection without slowing down their pc or having to worry about conflicting applications.
