Reviewing 6.2.0.134 (May 29, 2006)
Don't waste your time or money on this product. There are better alternatives like NERO. (version 6 not 7). Though it does some things okay, it's just too flaky for my choice of software.
The one time I needed help they refused to help me because I didn't have a CID. "What is a SID" I asked? A number on the box top. "I didn't keep the box. But I do have my serial key, and my payment receipt will that work?"
No you are out of luck and we will not support you they said.
So though I very rarely need support, this is not the type of company I want to do business with. Besides it's bloated.
Reviewing 6.2.0.134 (Oct 21, 2004)
Not an easy program to use. After a two weeks still not able to get the childrens pictures onto DVD. CD's that I did copy will not play can build a slide show without standing on my head. Tutorial and help can not be found. I DO NOT recomend it.
Reviewing 6.2.0.134 (Dec 22, 2003)
I agree, I liked Nero for a long time, but that last version is convoluted, cartoony garbage. EzCd six is clean, simple, loaded with useful features and runs without a glitch. Unfortunately, early releases of six were very buggy. Anyone who felt burned when adopting it earlier should give it another try.
Reviewing 6.2.0.134 (Dec 21, 2003)
The only thing I really like about this is DirectCD (now called Drag-to-disc). EasyCd came with my notebook but I still usee nero for burning.

This program hasn't worked well since version 3 of Adaptec Easy Cd Creator... I left this product a long time ago for Nero... Sigh, Nero's becoming too big and their product is looking to go the way of Adaptec/Roxio....
Reviewing 6.0.3.4 (Jun 3, 2003)
I'm back to Roxio 6 on WinXP. Roxio 5.x had it's share of issues & I went to Nero, but after applying so many updates it started saying that Nero was probably pirated. (it wasn't, I just try to stay up on updates). I even removed Nero completly rebooted. Applied the Nero CD & then the latest patch with the same issue. Because of that & liking the interface & features of Roxio I went back to 6.0 & everything works great. I also agree that Nero & Roxio don't seem to play well together. But Roxio 6 does work well & consistantly on XP.
Reviewing 6.0.3.4 (Jun 2, 2003)
I've found that Roxio may not work on a system that has Nero also installed. The two programs conflict with each other. Only by clearing Nero completely could I get Roxio to work properly. I like Roxio's simplicity but I've had trouble with open DirectCD disks after an upgrade.
Reviewing 5.3.4.21 (Mar 13, 2003)
The intent of the features that are in the product are well thought of and fun to use when they work. Some of the bugs have been cleaned up from 5.3.2 (Win98). I will update to 5.3.4.21 on my neighbors (xp)machine from 5.3.2 after I wait to see if any horror stories come up about XP in this update release for a couple of days more. Still, in my Win98 system everything is working 'sorta' and if not, there is a way around the problem in one feature or another (Copier, Soundstream, Cd Creator) in music Cd creation. Haven't use the data portion enough to comment. Photo Album has been good to me without any problems. Cd Label creator has only caused me problems in the CDDB database area of not finding songs and titles (some not all) but if I use Soundstream 'Get Names' first and it finds it then the Label Creator out of Soundstream will get the Contents of the Title and tracks for me that 'Get Names' found.
If they don't drop support of ECDC V5 in favor of moving on to V6, we will eventually be 'clean and green'.
Reviewing 5.3.4.21 (Feb 13, 2003)
Cluephone ringing kids: Nobody is asking if you personally *like* Easy CD Creator or if you prefer Nero or any of a half dozen other packages. The rating is if THIS update works well and unless you're using Easy CD Creator and applying this update then you've no business posting or rating in this thread, go troll somewhere else. I *do* use Easy CD Creator on one PC, Nero on another, and BOTH work fine for my needs. Each offers some features the other doesn't and neither regularly produces coasters. So stop going around waving your "I-use-Nero-so-I'm-l33t!" little p****es and stick to rating patches to Nero and leave discussion of Easy CD Creator patches alone. As to this patch, went in smooth and no apparent problems, my recorder was already supported (a Sony highspeed flashed with the latest Lite-On update) so no biggie there, nothing apparently different.

Reviewing 5.3.2b Drive Update (Jan 31, 2003)
I was never able to update ECD5 to 5.3.2.34. After the install my computer would not load Windows XP Pro. I went to safe mode to uninstall the update. Roxio Technical Support was unable to solve the problem. After reading comments from others I'm glad it wasn't me. I'm currently using ECD5 5.1.0.104 and works like a charm. By the way this update is listed as 5.3.2b so it can't be the one referred to by someone else as being released back in October 2002. I also use Nero burn as well as Musicmatch Jukebox. No problem with any of those programs.
Reviewing 5.3.2.34 (Dec 5, 2002)
I had used Easy CD Creator for 1 year with very little problems.
I had to reformat my system last week. Last thing I did was to re-install EZCD with XP update.
My PC will not finish the boot sequence now. And, it spit out a coaster last night.
I also had the same issue with the app telling me it couldn't launch.
It took me 4 days to recover from the format. I HOPE that I can go into safe-mode, do a system recovery to before the install. I have not allways had success with system restore, and "last known good menu" is a joke.
I officially admit defeat at the hands of Roxio. I will now switch to Nero and continue to do all my imaging with CloneCD.
To be objective; I loved the Easy CD package and when it did work, it was reliable. Since I do not live in a static world and like any other tweaker, am always in search of faster/bigger/friendlier products, I am dissapointed.
So, if you dare to try, please make sure you have a drive image or custom restore disk available and your boot sequence starts from the CDROM.
Reviewing 5.3.2.34 (Nov 4, 2002)
If you are using ECDC 5.3.1 stick with it! Had issues using this update under Windows XP. ECDC 5.3.2 just makes nice coasters for the coffee table. Even after a complete reinstall of OS and everything. OR hey...better yet stick with another program that you know works like Nero. Check out the new 5.5.9.17. Works like a charm!

Roxio always performs...This update (5.3.1) proves that they give what the customer wants. For example, I just bought a dvd burner (+R/+RW) and there last update only supported the (-R/-RW) format. Well since the +R/+RW format is going to be the mainstream format, they added support for this format and for my drive, and it could not work better. Also, under Windows XP, it works incredible!! Roxio Just performs and outshines any competition on the market. Can not wait to see what they have instore for the next update....
Reviewing 5.1 (Mar 25, 2002)
I tried to burn an Easy CD Creator file 3 times, 3 times a buffer underrun. Even at 2x speed, with every other program turned off, a UDMA 100 Hard drive and a Plextor 8x burner on a different IDE cable. My advice: Get Nero, it performs MUCH better, never has a buffer underrun with that, and is even smaller than this patch...
Reviewing 5.1 (Mar 19, 2002)
12.4 megabyte "patch" for a program that *still* cannot perform as advertised, ie Take Two. Why not download an entire program such as Nero at 11.1 meg. At least it does what it says on the box. Put this horse down Roxio, it's lame.
Reviewing 5.1 (Mar 19, 2002)
If your running Windows 95/98 and you use the "Take Two" feature (back up/ recovery system) THINK TWICE about this "update"...it REMOVES it from your system! Because there was a problem with non DOS systems, they decided to just remove the feature....it's kinda like finding out the radio in your new car won't play am, so you return it to the dealer for service and they fix it by taking out the radio!
Typical Roxio customer service....
Gee, what if Microsoft took this approach, your next update would remove the whole operating system.
Reviewing 5.02d (Jan 21, 2002)
The Windows XP updater that Roxio makes available on thier website tells me that I don't have Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum installed so it can't run. This is right after a fresh re-install from the v5.0 CD! I like the software, but I can't use it with Windows XP so that makes it useless. Coupled with customer support that is the worst I've ever seen since Lview Pro.....

I think Microsoft takes it on the chin a lot of times for this one specific suite of programs that's got to be the most unstable app out there.
Reviewing 5.1a Update (Jan 3, 2002)
Microsoft made the mistake of using Roxio to make the built in CD burning in Windows XP, they should have used ahead Nero or something, just look at all the updates there are to the CD Burning within Explorer on Windows Update already! Roxio cant program, if you want to make decent CDs get ANY other CD Burning program, in my opinion Nero is the best although it has some problems in multiple user system as they need to be Power Users but other than that it is tops :)
Reviewing 5.1a Update (Jan 3, 2002)
Yeah, let's add some more features to a program that isn't bug free in the first place. You're all right - BLOATWARE - what happened, why can't software companies just make a product that is absolutely rock solid and does what it's supposed to do? Now they have PHOTO EDITING ? Hmmm. Well, guess I can just throw my Photoshop out, then. Maybe Adobe will make some CD Burning software? Sure glad I read about your Win2000 issues, I just installed Win2K, but am using V 4 Deluxe. Thanks for clueing me in on the 2K problems. I'm sticking with V4 and CloneCD for my needs.
All things must pass, I guess, and the era of EZCD being one of the best, seems to be nearing an end.

1. ecdc5.01s.exe--This is not really update. It will spit out the message "no qualifing Roxio software found"
2: Valid update is still update.exe.
Why ?
If you installed this program as custom, you did not select
Take Two which is now known to everyone that kills Windows 2000. No fool uses default install...(come to think of it,
Roxio should have fired all people who made this default install in this program.) So if you did not intall Take Two,
ecdc5.01s.exe will say " no qualifing Roxio software found"
3: What is Roxio thinking ? People who had installed Take Two as compulsory default setup...already corrupted Windows 2000..(of course it is safe until one reboots....)..then, this small update might save OS.
Anyway, once the good software now ....the worst software...
and if still this programmer is working at Roxio, ............

NTI-CDMAKER BABY! Tried em all. Love this prog. Zero... count them... Zero coasters so far and I've used it for about a year. EZCD 1 out of 5 were coasters. Nero is great but often shot off a coaster or two. Nero may have more features over all than NTI but stability is superior to me. My clan of burners find it to be the best of em all. Reviewing 4.03a (Feb 6, 2001)
It works. It's also VERY bloated. CDRwin, Nero, and fireburner are just as functional and they aren't nearly as bloated. I currently use linux for all my burning. The way I look at it is if it's worth putting on CD, it's worth doing with right. I've coasted atleast one cd with all these windows packages, cdrecord and eclipt roaster will always be my app of choice, not one coaster yet. Even the finest app can fall pray to a buggy OS. Windows has a role on my system, but I'd rather not trust anything important to an OS best suited as a gaming console. You guys can debate which app is the best. I know already. I don't need a cheerful dot telling me how to burn a CD. If it suits your mentality, more power to you. Just remember... You're paying for these programs shouldn't they all work? While we're at it, what are you guys burning anyway? I hope it's nothing you should be paying for ;o) Now stop reading this and go read a book or talk to your spouse/significant other. You're wasting your life away while stuffing money into someone's pocket who could care less about you.

I don't think very highly of Easy CD Creator. It's what I got with my burner, and I find it's a pain in the ass. Reviewing 4.02a Patch (Mar 29, 2000)
I've been downloading and testing the Mozilla engine for weeks now, and it has consistently been 5 megs. I downloaded the 16 Megabyte Netscape 6 Preview, and I was shocked to find that the extra 11 megs only consisted of a spell checker and Netscape branded AIM. I expected that most of the increased file size was due to the Netscape interface being glued to the Mozilla engine, but nope, not a bit different. Sad. Mozilla was looking good, Netscape has turned it big and slow. Oh well, here's to IE 5.5 still having the edge!

Secondly, even if a browser like Netscape using the Mozilla core can't really do what it was intended, ie., render html correctly, it's better than IE cuz it's open source, NOT! And how many Netscape bashers are Linux users? I'll bet a lot. Have you guys forgotten your blind devotion to all things open source? Netscape Mozilla...it's great! I have been usind this program for 2 years now, and have been more than happy with it. Out of approximately 500 CD's I have had 2 coasters(they hang on my wall). I believe most of this ranting about others being better is nothing but loyalty to another brand. Get over it. This is good software, and it does makes a wonderful CD.
Reviewing 4.01 Patch (Dec 20, 1999)
I've been using Easy CD Creator since ver 3 when it came w/ my 2x8 Mistumi 2801TE, its a good program for making cd's, its only drawback is not capable of burning BIN/CUE files. Even though they are created with CDRWIN, it would be nice not having to use BinChunker, and winimage to burn em. For BIN/CUE files, I reccommend using FireBurner.
Reviewing 4.01 Patch (Dec 14, 1999)
I think this program is great (and I am not a beginner). I especially like the fact that you can burn directly from mp3. I've had no problems burning with a SCSI HP9200 under Win98SE. However, even with this patch I'm still having a problem under Win2000. It seems to record some 'static' noise on the first track of every audio disc. Anybody else having this problem?
Reviewing 4.01 Patch (Dec 6, 1999)
This program is LAME.... it is for the beginner. It takes forever to load, craps out a lot, and you have to reinstall it like every other month or it will just stop working.
