Electric Shoebox lets you organize, edit, and instantly share your photos. Photo tagging allows you to quickly organize and search through thousands of photos. Built-in photo editing includes auto-image enhancement, red-eye removal, cropping, and color adjustment. The sharing functionality lets you share your photos with friends and family via the web without having to use an online service, like Ofoto or Yahoo! Photos. It uses your own computer to serve shared photos to others. To view shared albums, people just point their web browser at your computer. A personalized domain name is provided for free. Installation is easy, with no need to setup a web server or other software.

    A very nice product with some innovative features. What I like best about it is the open and innovative tagging and search system that allows you to categorize photos quickly and easily. The developers have some great ideas, and the product is more useful for power users than it initially appears due to the tagging system and data storage in Access database tables.

    I'm interested in it less for picture sharing than for managing a large number of images (5,000+) that I use in my work as a managing editor of a sports website and magazine.

    It's a crowded marketplace for these types of tools. I hope the developers remain encouraged and continue to update the product because I would hate to see so many good ideas be lost under the tidal wave of generic products.

    Plus, it's cheap. Support these guys if you can.

    I give it a 4 for it other terrific features, but for sharing, I wish it did it with 'real P2P'...
