The best desktop rss reader imo, there's a bunch more going on then what first meets the eye concerning filters and feed managing. The only reader that gives it a run for it's money is RSSOwl, but that one still needs to iron out lots of kinks. The only negative thing I have to say about Feedreader is that it's memory usage is quite high at times, although it seems to have improved slightly with this release.

This OR the stable version is way better than greatnews. Feedreader allows for a direct connection and gnews does not. Plus this gui blows gnews away with it's much cleaner gui.
Update openssl and good to go

Blah. Whoever the staff member at Fileforum was who marked this as a 'staff pick' is, obviously hasn't seen GreatNews.

I liked all the features of this program except for the memory footprint. I would average 90-125 meg when open which for a RSS reader is ridiculous. I found it slowed my system down to a crawl once I exited all back to normal. Try GreatNews; all the same features with only a hit of 35 meg open 2 meg when in the tray.

It's not a bad program but everytime you allow it to update, it wipes out most of your RSS feeds. You then have to reenter them manually.
