Folder Axe was made with one purpose in mind, and that is to help you split your folders into many smaller folders. You may split the folders in various ways. Two of the possible ways are "By Amount", which splits the folder into many smaller folders, where you specify a limit for the number of files that can be in each resulting folder; and "By Size", in which you specify a size limit for each of the resulting folders.

Reviewing 3.2 (Jul 16, 2011)
Great program if you want to split your folders up according to different types of selection criteria
Developer actively encourages feedback when using the program. I came across this via the fileforum with the release of V3.0 . Installed it and saw that it was quite simple to use. Decided to provide feeback for program improvements. My suggestion was to cater for split by size using designated settings - matching the different types of hard copy media - such as CD, DVD, Blu-Ray. Suggestion implemented same day - very impressed. Version 3.2 corrects the initial sizing calculations implemented in v3.1. Have been in contact with developer since then and the young bloke should be actively encouraged for his efforts so far.
