Folding@home for Windows 2000/XP/Vista 6.10 Beta 3 beta
Publisher's Description:
Folding@home works on theory and simulations of how proteins, RNA, and nanoscale synthetic polymers fold. The Pande Group has developed the ensemble dynamics method and its application to protein folding and wrote the client and server code for the Folding@home project. The Pande Group analyzes the resulting data. Similar to the Seti@home project.

I have used this program as well as SETI and both are excellent examples of people working together for a cause that affects millions. There is no ill effects to your PC and why not do something positive for your world or perhaps be a part of mans quest for Extra Terrestial communication. Hey anythings possible (except of course any versions of Windows being released on schedule)

Here's the changelog taken from http://folding.stanford.edu/FAQ-v6.html
- support in client and backend infrastructure for passkey
- accept message from server (for example PRFC) and print to unitinfo and
queueinfo (only on units assigned from servers supporting this)
- integration of SMP support into the standard client. Run with the -smp
flag on eligible hardware to receive SMP units.
- detailed detection of CPU type and features
- no benchmark on startup
- We regret that a v6 Windows/SMP client is not yet available.
