Free HDD LED shows hard disk drive activity in real time in the systray area and on keyboard (blinking the scroll lock key led). It monitors all physical hard disk drives connected to the pc (ide/sata/usb). It also features a free disk space monitor (works also for pendrives, network drives and TrueCrypt drives).
.NET

I tried this and it works well. My only negative is it needs Admin Rights, making auto-startup a bit of a pain. I have been using an a similar little prog. called DriveGLEAM http://www.dirtcellar.net/software.php. Even though it's older, it has auto start to tray, and is more customizable as to which drives it monitors. Win 7 x64 - no issues.

Handy little app for a laptop with multiple partitions. Would like to see an option to ignore specific drives though - Having an SD card dedicated to ready boost and the system reserved drive it gives constant low space warnings, have to do without for now - otherwise does exactly what I need.

The app seems interesting but for some reason on XP it is scanning for drives every few seconds and it slows down the machine because I have a floppy (3.5") in there... ha! go figure.

This is a neat little app which needs a bit of polishing, but is very promising!
What's new in 0.2f:
- added "hide system tray icon" option

@sweathog: It's not just eye candy; it serves a useful purpose when your disk lights are hidden away in the computer under the desk, or within the closed screen of a laptop that's connected to external keyboard, mouse and display. Handy to be able to see if the disk is thrashing when the system seems unresponsive once in a while.
BTW, while Float LED looks promising, it's 25 times the size of this little utility.
