FreeAmp is a modular media player designed to be easily extensible to new media types, sources, and destinations. FreeAmp achieves this by abstracting out the major pieces of functionality into a plugin architecture.

Reviewing 2.1 RC2 (Oct 9, 2000)
I was using this player all the way up until RC1, but went back to winamp for one reason: playlist editor. I utterly despise the freeamp playlist editor, compared to winamp's, its too much of a hastle. Can't someone just make an mp3 player thats totally controlable from its playlist editor (like winamp), and skinable like freeamp?

Solid product and I agree that not much stands out from Winamp. Still, I'd rather use it in Linux than Windows. As for all the talk about the way the versioning is placed, I think the first comment about it was a joke. Get a life people.
Reviewing 2.1 Beta 5 (Jun 18, 2000)
I found FreeAmp to be a solid, stable player with great sound and performance. The features are there, it becomes cleaner and more stable with each build. Semi-pleasing interface. Still nothing that really stands out from Winamp. All-in-all, its a great player with great sound. Looks promising, might want to watch it closely.

Great idea, how sad that the program won't even launch. Gives me a "(3.20) c:\program files\Available Domains\adomains.exe: dispatcher initialisation error 11"
