GFI MailEssentials for Exchange/SMTP/Lotus is a server based anti spam & email management solution for Microsoft Exchange Server & Notes/SMTP servers. Spam is caught before the mail server, no need to deploy client software. Its advanced Spam detection technology is based on: Content checking of body and subject for spam keywords, checking mail headers for typical spam practices, and checking if the sending mail server is on a third party black list such as ORDB. Admins can also set-up their own blacklists, as well as reduce false positives using the automatic whitelist feature.
- FIXED: Emails get stuck in the SMTP queue after being processed by GFI MailEssentials
- FIXED: Emails looping between GFI MailSecurity and GFI MailEssentials when forward to email action is used in GFI MailEssentials
- FIXED: Reduction in spam capture by SpamRazer, caused by failed execution of certain DNS based checks performed by the engine
- FIXED: Crash of Synch agent service when a port other than the default port is used
- FIXED: Crash of SURBL module caused by emails containing URI which is longer than 2048 characters
- FIXED: Dot stuffing performed whilst processing of emails can corrupt attachments

If this product is checking ORDB for spam, it is poorly designed. ORDB has been shut down for many months now.

No problems here. Smooth installation and it made a huge difference in our organization. Give it a little time and you'll be very happy with this product.

I've been reviewing spam filters for our organization and I cannot believe the comments below. Of course it is nice that it has great antimalware capabilities but it does a really poor job on blocking spam! Out of the box it is horrible and I refuse to explain why the need to train the filter continuously. A Bayesian filter is kind of useless nowadays because of Bayesian poisoning and other spam tricks. Look further if you need a out of the box solution that doesn't stress your server CPU.

Great software! I'm using it on Exchange Server 2003 about 2 years and I'm realy satisfied. Together with GFI MailSecurity (with Kaspersky plugin) make strong security suite.

This software changed my life. I was suicidal, and it set me free. It made me see the light. It made me find God.
Today, I can do nothing but sing the praises of this, the finest software ever devised, nay, conceived. And we all owe the fine folks at BetaNews a hearty round of applause for featuring it.
