Just another average reg cleaner

You can really do without these programs these days, 15+ years ago they had their place but most of the utilities are either replicated accessible Windows functions or unnecessary & potentially damaging such as 'registry cleaning' - I fix heaps of units buggered up by such so called cleaning - Microsoft have never advocated registry cleaning.

Enable 'GOD' mode & save your money:- http://www.computerhope.com/tips/tip180.htm

Note: I installed this program some years ago & my wife got pregnant, so beware!

## TEST ##

I made this App portable to Test the Internal Apps as Stand-alones.

This is aimed MAINLY at Peeps with Little knowledge about Systems.
I didn't Install, So no Reg keys were Generated... HOWEVER..!!
I have a system Monitor, which wouldn't Shut TF up.
That told me Something was Active In my System Without Launching Anything. Unpacking This App was the Trigger (without getting techy).

You have "2" RUN folders in the Registry At...
1) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
2) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I launched "ONE" app, & a key was generated in the HKCU (2) folder.

NOW... If I throw this App into my Shredder... (& I will).. ~_^
That key Will Still be there. & every Boot will Activate it.

It may be wise for Anyone Using this App which has 42 x .EXE files in the
main folder (when portable)
- Check their Registry At the 2 locations I listed Above.
- Check Your "Running" Services.
- Call-up msconfig & check all is OK there..??

I didn't check Any further than (1 app), which remains Un-Named

I have tried all kinds of all in one utility programs like mcafee, symantec's 360 and let me tell you that both of these programs don't offer what Glary Utilities has to offer. Glary Utilities is faster more reliable then then both of them. Norton 360 is terrible and should be stopped from being developed. Mcafee software used to great top of the line but recently It is just like norton 360 terrible. Glary Utilities are so much better simply because the utilities are simple to use. CCleaner is good but I tried that program as well found It to be even worse then everyone else It kept lagging down my system making It run too slow Glary Utilities doesn't do that.

As with the rest of the multi-clean & optimise programs about lots of the utilities on offer are available in Windows or by enabling GOD made, the defragger is very good & extremely fast with a full boot defrag, but the cleaners are no better than CCleaner with winapp2 enabled & not as thorough.

The registry cleaner found a worrying amount of so called bad entries & it wasn't easy to verify whether they were OK or not, my experience with Windows leaves me highly suspicious of the value of registry cleaning as I've seen to many broken PC's & if in doubt leave well alone.

An improvement on version 2.x but you really can live without this program or others like it - If you really, really must clean the registry use the free Wise reg cleaner which is the safest I've seen - All in all though one of the better utility programs around ~

Limited cleaning facilities, some of the tools on offer could mess up your system.

You really don't need this all-in-one or any so called utility system & there are lots around. 90% of the tools on offer are available in other parts of Windows esp. if you enable 'GOD mode'.

if you want to clean your system use CCleaner & Wise Disc Cleaner both free & without bloat & unneeded vapour-ware add-ons.

Uriel likes me really, just can't cope with me being taller & far better looking ;-)

OK as long as you use the free version as CCleaner & XCleaner do a better job of basic cleaning. Some functions of Glary such as the duplicate file finder & the uninstaller (that show things usually hidden & for good reason) you really could mess things up if you aren't careful - So use with caution, that's good advice with all such software.

A change-log would be good. Otherwise the program is improving esp. The registry cleaner, it's far less likely to come up with FP's. A good program for the none tech minded. I would rate it as pretty safe now after several runs of the software on several PC's.

Still good, even on a state of the art PC the registry clean takes ages & take care as it cannot be totally trusted, check before you delete. It’s not really worth buying, use the free version, as there is not much difference.

A nice set of utilities, the registry clean & disc cleaner seem safe. The only gripe is the price hike from the free version to the pay for suite. Drop the price a little & I think many more would pay.

You should use uni extractor on this as now it bundles with the ask toolbar.
Updates automatically with NO option

anomoly

anomoly reviewed v2.23.0.923 on May 27, 2010

Not too shabby. Use universal extractor to get the guts and run the "integrator" exe.
All modules are basically standalone exe's organized by the integrator.
Only issue is the updater which says that a newer version is available (2.22.0.896). Program needs to be able to count in order to know if there is an update and that usually the number goes up not down.
I like it better than crap cleaner.

Please be aware that the "free" version of Glary Utilities now includes a (totally unneeded) browser toolbar. IMO that makes the software ADWARE.
However, there is a slim version available that doesn't include the toolbar:
http://www.glaryutilities.com/builds.html#
Still, 1 star for not properly disclosing the adware part

Every time my comp got rather slow, I reinstall the system for fast PC performance. But that is what I did before I knew Glary Utilities. Glary UItilies helps me get rid of all those crap of browser history, cookies, temp files and so on. It's fast and efficient because it has 1-click maintenance. In addition, its function of Encrypter ensures all my personal files confidential. I am totally assured that my private information can't be accessed by other people.

I second what Morningdove said.

Morningdove

Morningdove reviewed v2.11.0.638 on Feb 17, 2009

This is the first slim version of Glary Utilities that installed a "prestart" program in the scheduled tasks folder during installation. This program needs no boost to start and even if the scheduled run feature was available, I would resent the entry being there if it was turned off.

I would normally rate Glary Utilities up there along with TuneUp Utilities, but this author has just wiped out a thousand "attaboys".

One other anomoly: the program asked for a reboot after installation, which it hasn't done before or since, and then crashed during the process; said it was unable to register some DLL.

Glary Utilities 2.3.4 is one of those as of lately rare programs/eDevices which even though they have a pro version its freeware version is still chock full of features.(including most columns of details being active not just for show, meaning one can organize the order of what the see as by a specific order as NAME,DATE,SIZE etc) Please visit their site to see the features IF YOU ARE not sure of downloading. Was thinking of linking to a widget showing all the screens of Glary Utilities 2.3.4 but figure linking might not be permitted here BUT HOPE FILEFORUM tries that idea as using an active widget to present more than one screenshot. First displayed are thumbnails and titles of several screensshots of a program, then by hovering or clicking on the thumbnail that screenshot is zoomed into. This widget style exists for the past few years just thought it might attract more people to FILEFORUM.
Features = 4.7
