Some laptops with burners, have had the yellow icon in the system tray,
it was the upper and lower filets that needed be deleted, system reboot and the burners were working.
That's why this is such a good burner program, it also helps to find bios updates and change region + more options are available to the user.
Interface looks a little dull, never the less its as solid as a rock.

I love this program and use it for years now. It's VERY reliable regarding burning CD/DVDs. The only time, so far, that it failed to burn a DVD, was when my burner went to burner holy land. ;) In I don't really know how many years, the program itself never failed me. However, there is still a very annoying bug that makes it crash, and it happens *quite often* when I'm in a "Build" mode and dragging files from the Explorer into it. It just goes "poof" and gives me the "application crashed" screen. So you have to "build" the project all over again... and it can still crash on you again. :-/ So sometimes, when I have a bigger "build" to make, I save the project after every drag and drop addition... for just in case. I still give it 5 stars for reliability when you press the "burn button". ;)
Also, I find it so convenient that I can install it so easily and burn CD/DVDs in a matter of seconds! Just use 7-zip to unpack it. All you need to make it work is actually just the main exe file and nothing else.
Well deserved five stars! I'll give it 10 stars when they resolve the drag and drop crashes! :)
Reviewing 2.5.7.0 (May 12, 2012)
Still a good piece of software, except for the added ASK TOOLBAR!
The ASK tool bar INI file is set to 1 (yes please)as standard ,as if you and everyone would always give consent from the beginning without being asked.(which is nonsense behaviour of advertisers and all the other companies that want to mine data ,otherwise they would not get many people wanting their crap added extra's installed )
An easy way to bypass the ASK.com data miner from going anywhere !Just download 7zip and when it's installed (7zip) just right click the setupimg exe and choose 7-zip ,then choose extract to "setupimgburn"
Now this will extract the contents of the imgburn exe to a folder, now you can open that folder and start imiage burn just by clicking the imgburn exe.The programme will start straight up into image burn without you being bugged for installing the ASK toolbar data miner ,as this method bypasses all the guff .
You could also go into the same folder and into the $PLUGINSDIR folder and delete both the apnstub exe and the apntoolbarinstaller exe just to further prevent any trickery.
Simples !!!!!

I've used this little app since the DVD Decryptor days. It's is, by far, the best burning package available today and it just gets better with each update.
Easy to use for the absolute beginner and advanced enough to tackle almost any "burning" task.
I can't rate this highly enough.

Perfect burning app though "ApnStub" (toolbar) launches before the ImgBurn install so 3 points less.

I use it all the time for at least 2 years now and it's such a no-headache program. Kinda transparent - you stop thinking about it in a while. I burn[t] a lot of DVD-s with it and it only gave me problems when my burner started dying, which is understandable. The only thing I miss with it, now that it has proper and easy "burning list assembly" that is file manager-like [I don't use explorer but q-dir...] I only miss multi-session burning, but I kinda learned to live with it. Not that I wouldn't use it again if the author implements it! :) Great program and thank you for making it and making it simple to use.

I haven't tried ImgBurn yet, but Multi-Session means you burn some data to CD/DVD, then finalize/close that session (instead of finalizing the disc). Then you can record more data to the same CD/DVD and finalize that new session, et cetera. i.e. there are multiple sessions on the same CD or DVD.
The only drawback to a multi-session disc is some older drives (like, made before 1998), or some standalone home/auto/boombox disc players, might 'see' only the first session on a disc.
But, anyway... ImgBurn DOES appear to support multi-session. See the online manual - http://forum.imgburn.com...=findpost&pid=66444 - That will get you to section 4... then page down to section 4.2.10
So, I'm going to rate it a 4 just for having such a comprehensive manual available. :-)
Reviewing 2.5.5.0 (Feb 3, 2011)
No Multisession? Like most programs with windows 7, hold shift and click to open a program from the "superbar" and voila. I burn simultaneously with my laptops internal and an external drive all the time. Is that what you meant by multisession?
Truly brilliant piece of software, and free. I use alot of free and open source software and I often find myself thinking that imgburn has got to be one of the best free apps out there. Its up there with foobar and vlc. Thanks imgburn!

@Alexander-GG
Who's still using multisession ? In times in which DVD-R's costs are negligible there is imho no room for that mode. In my experience it caused more trouble than it was worth.
I am using ImgBurn for a couple of years now and it never let me down, does exactly it is advertised to do and it has lots of features for the power user and even a wizard for the not so experienced user. In addition to that it is free and light weight. At least I don't know of another program that small, which has the same or more features. Bashing the implementation of the optional Ask toolbar in an otherwise free program is also not called for.
From me both thumbs up for an excellent reliable and small piece of software.

What's up with all of you guys?
This soft can't burn multi-session disks. I tried to find out something about this issue on their forums and I was really surprised to read that the author doesn't like to use the multi-session disks, so, if someone wants this feature he should write it's own burning software from the scratch, he-he.
What for someone needs this soft if there are a lot of free similar applications with almost all of the features which ImgBurn has? Is this some kind of fashion trend to use ImgBurn? I guess, yes, this is the fashion trend and nothing more.
Rate 2 for non-intuitive interface, limited functionality and ask toolbar. Wake up guys!

I use ImgBurn to write all the DVDs I create. I have tried several others, but I stick with ImgBurn because I know it's going to write the DVDs correctly, and they're going to work when I put them in a DVD player.
Nothing about the GUI is wasted— you get exactly what you need to know. The burning process is flawless and you can't beat the performance to price ratio.

I work in a CD/DVD production environment, and ImgBurn is a great all-in-one tool for creating, working with and burning CD or DVD image files, as well as for testing master discs supplied by customers for duplication. It may not be pretty, but it gets the job done!
Reviewing 2.5.2.0 (Sep 10, 2010)
Great app for burning to just about any media.
I like that it's easy to use but also has good options for the power user.
I mostly use it to create and write ISO images, and burn mp3 or audio CDs.
All in all a very solid performer.
As for the Ask toolbar it's unfortunate but I guess the developer needs to get funds besides donations.
It's true that the AskInstallChecker does run and it probably "phones" home, which some users will equate to spyware.
This can be stopped using a proper security software setting.
However AskToolbarInstaller only runs if you forgot to opt-out.
So toolbar does not install if you are careful which is no different than other "free" software, or even some commercial software.
The price for this great freeware is that you have to pay attention to what you click.

Used to use this all the time with XP but when I began using a 64-bit o/s that all changed, Imgburn never worked correctly and kept on crashing/hanging, a pity really. Now with this Ask toolbar included I just would not bother. When I download Imgburn all I want is Imgburn, very dissapointed.

This product may function well but it is IMHO "crapware". The installation includes the Ask toolbar that actually installs BEFORE you get a chance to say you don't want it then is VERY difficult to uninstall and totally remove from your system.
I would give this product a NO star rating if it was possible. We ought to black-list software that is a trojan for other rubbish products that most folks simply don't want.
I recommend: CDBurnerXP or BurnAware or DeepBurner or InfraRecorder

Love ImgBurn, I had no problems. I just opt-out of everything I wasn't interested in. I didn't install first few days of new release so my experience maybe different. I believe the AskInstallChecker 1.4.0 did "phone home"
No ad menus when in "tools menu" (did download from ImgBurn mirror and not from Betanews)
With all the "real" changes it's a great update.
Now I can reduce my other building/reading/writing applications to nearly none. ImgBurn is doing most duties, rightfully so.

I never write reviews but I had to sign up for an account and post something because I LOVE THIS PROGRAM.
My experience (I downloaded it directly from imgburn's website):
1) The author did change things so it is in Opt In for the blue software thing
2) The ask toolbar does has to be deselected during install but that's easy enough
3) The extra ad menus in the tools menu are no longer there.
So far, no issues with the new version. It seems as ROCK SOLID as ever.
@catchpole
I'm not trying to be disrespectful but are you aware that all issues in question have been actually solved by the author hearing what folks had to say and then he reposted the changes immediately. Everything you're worried about can be deslected. In my opinon, that at least shows you the author listens to his audience.
Although "What's Your Problem" seems a little crass, he does have legitimate points.

Read the F*****g screen before you num nuts push the next button on the installer and uncheck what you don't want.
EDIT FOR @ciohaeso
First off, you do not make sense. You have very poor grammar and cannot put two thoughts together.
Second, if your read Lightning UK's post, you would see that he made the UniBlue opt in on the installer and he changed the Tools menu so it NO LONGER INCLUDES THE ADWARE LINKS. Imgburn, because of quality and price, deservs 5 stars.
Also, I see that author started making money on his (hard) work. It is completely OK.
We know, that most users do not check what installers say, just click until installation ends.
I think, that toolbars, ads etc. are OK, but under one condition: these ads should be NOT selected to install by default. Also, it is wise, to add information in Tools menu, that three ad menu items are BOTH links and ads.
Reviewing 2.5.1.0 (Mar 17, 2010)

Reviewing 2.5.1.0 (Mar 17, 2010)
For all you moaning moaners out there, there is (and will be on here once the fileforum team read their email) an updated version of the installer where you have to opt *in* to creating the Uniblue desktop webpage shortcuts (no app was ever installed).
So that leaves you with a single checkbox should you not want the Ask toolbar.
If you seriously can't manage that and want to continue being pathetic, by all means go ahead.

optional ask toolbar is nothing compared to how good this app is.
from the forum:
I'm in the process of rebuilding the setup exe and that one will have the option to create said desktop shortcuts turned OFF by default.
Then, when the program loads it'll check to see if they were *enabled* during installation and *only* if they were will it display the options in the tools menu.
Case closed (I hope).

With new setup there are no menu entries by default only if you choose.

Ouch! It's adware now :(
While the Ask Toolbar during install thing could be regarded as "borderline" adware, the permanent menu items (under "Tools") classify this program as definitely adware.
Oh, well, I guess I won't be donating again to Imgburn anytime soon
Reviewing 2.5.1.0 (Mar 17, 2010)
Throwing in my single-star rating thanks to the adware. Sticking with 2.5.0.0. In fact, I just tried installing 2.5.1.0 (AFTER Lightning's so-called "fixes") and when the installer gets to the ask.com toolbar crap, a component called AskInstallChecker-1.4.0.0.exe immediately tries to call "home", even before you've gotten a chance to uncheck any of the options on the screen. Completely unacceptable.
After reading Lightning UK's rebuff post, I've decided I'm keeping the single star rating, to compensate for the tissues and hot cocoa I just went through after being called "pathetic". In fact, I've a good mind to completely uninstall the fsking thing and use DVD Decrypter instead.
ohwait.

For those who may not have noticed:
1. this is NOT a complete disc burning/authoring application
2. this IS an disc image burning application
Need it be stated more? uggh alright...
Granted there are now a lot of options and not everything is documented, but there is not supposed to be much involved:
1. choose image
2. click burn
This is the basis of this application if it not evident and that is the reason I love it; other features are supervenient. I'm surprised writing of files/folders has been added, but actually I like how it works from other burning apps. I can create a session to burn a directory even if files within that directory change or are added later.

It's stone cold reliable, but as others have mentioned, the usability needs a lot of work. Some real documentation would be nice, as well. This has nothing to do with being a DVD ninja master, but rather, it has to do with user friendliness, which some (though disappointingly few) people still put a value on.
I find it amazing how many idiots think I am interested in "eye candy", or who think I can't make a valid criticism unless I've donated, or who think I am complaining that ImgBurn isn't as full-featured as Nero. People like this always imply that they are superior to others, when in fact, they are the opposite, because they miss the point.
I guarantee that none of said idiots could explain any of the settings I'm unsure about.
If this application works for you, then let me pause and clap for you.
There, I clapped. Did you hear it? Oh well.
If you have two brain cells to rub together, and agree that it would be nice to include at least a damned tooltip for some of the more advanced settings, then hooray for you.

I've used this program for a while now and have never had a problem. It has been rock solid! Unlike the Nero BLOATWARE some people are so fond off Imgburn is small in size, and is llight on system resources. Also the developer works at improving this program all the time. Simply put, it's a very fine piece of software that I would heartily recommend to all......and it's free!

@gehtnix & all intelligent betanews crowd:
instead of personal attack why didn't you write how to burn DVD->DVD on the fly in the year 2009 via this app? Thanks...
btw, no-one denies Nero Burning ROM (not the suite) is the king in the industry. There's nothing wrong on comparing app to a legend Nero once was until version 6. (they've literally destroyed the pack later on but NBR remained the same, just with the feature added). If you can't handle a competition, go shoot yourself...
And if you think going to 4 submenus just to selecting vital option is ok, then I wouldn't like to be designing GUI with you m8. And the fact that it doesn't produce quality burns as Nero is FACT!
Tested. Last but not least, in a good application, there is no need to "explain to friends" how it works. They just figure it up.
I rated it one just to weight all those 5 star ratings (otherwise I would put 3) as this app has lot to do with itself, too bad you don't see it.
original review
------------------------
I used to like it, but anytime I've installed it to one of my heavy-burning friends they needed to return to an excellent and unbeatable Nero Burning Rom. Personally I don't burn much but they overhelmed me with hundreds of questions...
how to burn DVD->DVD?
how to burn "on the fly"?
why do I need to wait 30 minutes to format the DVD when Nero can do it immediately (well, after 20-30 seconds of preparing the media)?
why can't I make DVD Video disc from these files I've got stored on my HD, in Nero I just select DVD Video...
and many other features, which are present in Nero and going to imgburn it is impossible to find them (unless someone has a climax going to one tab, another tab of that tab that will show a 3 radiobutons each with its own tab and THERE you can select vital option).
also, complex preferences for this program are a joke to usability, many dialogs gets asked (Yes, freakingly YES I WANT THIS FOLDER TO BE THE ROOT FOLDER! Ok? you get it? really? because I've got it set in options and you're still asking like mad) again and again, and ergonomy is a strange word for an author...
yesterday I was burning disc on friends computer, I've selected speed 4x/... and disc got burned at high speed... too bad I didn't read GENIUS explanation: speed: audio/data
so It should be MAX/4x, well how logical... it isn't for a newcomer
personally, I'm using it, I've ditched Nero long ago, but because I am using it I won't rate it high (I've done it in the past), as this program isn't improving on its usability side.
Burning DVDs to DVDs on the fly is one big essential feature, and even such a stupid taskt this program isn't able to handle with easy, if...
Nero suite sux badly, but Nero Burning Rom still rocks in interface, stability, robustness and easy of use. Too many times I've got not a problem burning discs with Nero and I still have problem using this proggie. One example?
I've needed quality burns 2 weeks ago on Gold DVDs. I've fired up imgburn, selected speed 4x (as I really didn't want to go 8x because of burning issues on high speeds) and man, this proggie had a problems of keeping my drive on 4x! It somehow must ensure it will allways be 4.000000 not 4.1 so it is stoping the disc, starting it again, stoping... RESULTS? rails on the disc...
Nero will never do that, one smooth burn.
Sorry if that is not what you would like to hear, but that are pure experience of using this proggie on Vista for couple of months, and I don't think version 2.4 is an improvement in any area...(*edit* well, there are some improvements (well after a year!) in making Video DVDs etc. but they are all but intuitive).

G_D: it's in the (advanced)->(bootable disk) tab when using build image. You provide the premade boot image, or extract it from any available disk and it'll use it.

As distasteful as the name you've chosen to submit reviews to this forum may be, your review is even worse.
This application takes .iso files and allows you to burn them to disk. If the .iso file is bootable, the disk will be bootable.
I use both ImgBurn and Nero (7) and I find ImgBurn to be a much better application for this purpose. Nero, of course, is a better application for many other purposes (and is not free).
Reviewing 2.4.4.0 (Apr 11, 2009)
This program can't create bootable DVD's or CD's? You know, like Nero can. At least there's no mention of how to do this on the developer's website.

This is my first choice when it comes to image burning tools. It beats every 'professional' (for pay) program I've ever tried. It does what it says, and does it very VERY well. Whenever anyone asks me what kind of burning software I use, I always recommend this one first. I have yet to have it fail -its outlasted 2 burners over the years, and no coasters have been produced by the software -ever.

I'd love to rate high. But I find this program confusing. Tried to create an image from files. Dropped a 400 MB folder into ImgBurn, it show just the folder name. The number of files and the % used bar remain unchanged. It is hard to navigate in the file layout on the DVD being built.
May be it's good but the GUI is catastrophic.

Reviewing 2.4.2.0 (Jul 23, 2008)
Outstanding that they have put out another update to this already awesome FREEWARE / NO NAG application. It just keeps getting better and better.
I agree that some more detailed documentation would be appreciated, but given how many incredible functions this app has, and the fact that he has added an available "Wizard-like" interface and other ease of use improvements, I think it still deserves a full-on rating of 5.
Thanks LUK, especially for the ability to Read multi-track disks and create an image from them, which was added in version 2.4.1.0.
Now in ImgBurn 2.4.2.0, among other additions, you provide that new Drop Zone feature is pretty slick and easy to use.
Yes, you can also drag and drop files to the Build or Write mode windows using the method below, but this Drop Zone thing may end up being just a bit easier for most folks. Here's how to do it the old-school way:
Old Method
Select files to add to build in Windows Explorer or another file manager.
Hold Down Left Click and use the mouse to drag the cursor over the ImgBurn entry on the Task Bar and keep it there until ImgBurn becomes the active window, then while still holding down that Left Mouse button, drag the cursor up to the ImgBurn dialog and drop them there (release the Left Mouse button)
Reviewing 2.4.2.0 (Jul 22, 2008)
Nice, but some real, local documentation would be welcome. Many of the settings are pretty obscure and/or unclearly worded, and have not even a tooltip to give clue. (Note to the other reviewer: It doesn't have a "wizard-like interface". It has a startup screen that gives you a few options. Once you select one, you're faced with a litany of un- or poorly-explained options, as I mentioned. A startup screen is not a "wizard".)

Its always nice when a developer allows people to use his creation for free. I stop using Nero because it was really hard to get rid of. When you need a seperate program to remove every trace of it there is a problem with your program.

The sketchy multisession support isn't a deal breaker for me. All to often I have found that, when attempting to add a new session weeks or months later, either a new session can't be written or writing a new session ruins the entire disc. Discs are cheap these days and spending 20 to 50 cents for a new compilation isn't going to break ones budget. Back when a CD-R cost five bucks a disc taking a chance with multisession was, at times, worth it but not any more I think. ImgBurn still needs some work but, overall, I'm quite satisfied with it.
Reviewing 2.4.1.0 (Apr 2, 2008)

It is good to see this app updated. Since he added the ability to create an image from a disk, I've been an even bigger fan of the program.
And now, with the addition of the long hoped for Multi-Track read/rip feature, it truly is the best app of its kind, and it's still completely free.
About the only thing I can think of wanting in terms of new features would be to broaden archive / image format support to include things like Apple HFS, DMG and other more proprietary and comnpressed image formats like DAA from PowerISO, UIF from MagicIso, etc.
Massive props to LUK for changing his mind and making it Multi-Track capable. Absolutely fantastic.

The continuing expansion of features and usability make this brilliant piece of programming to grow in value. This application stands up against any of the commercial alternatives and in my experience is much more likely to deliver a clean burn than either Nero or Roxio. If you are looking for a mass of tools to trim your photos or edit your video, you should be looking elsewhere (Paint.Net is great for photo work -- don't be satisfied with the stuff that comes bundled with commercial burners)
But if you want an effective, easy-to-use and understand program to create your own disks, ImgBurn is the application for you.
I simply love ImgBurn and salute the developers. Thanks Lightning for another fine release.

@auiotour: Just because you can't copy protected movies with software that's not designed to do that, doesn't mean you should give it a low rating.
You can't even compare DVD Decrypter with ImgBurn. They have different purposes. One was for decrypting DVDs, the other is for burning images. And it does it extremely well.

I'm happy to see that ImgBurn now has a pretty face. By adding the "EZ Mode Picker", ImgBurn went a long way to clean up the arcane user interface that has been keeping it from becoming more popular. Non-geeks may still find it a bit confusing to use, but I suppose it isn't meant for the mainstream user. If you open the install archive with 7-zip, you can extract only the EXE file, making the program no-install, and portable. I haven't noticed any loss of features from doing this. The program icon looks awesome on ObjectDock. An old standby just got better. Excellent release, try it!

Seems that every time I get a new computer, or reinstall windows its not long before I need a burning program, I go on a freeware hunt, and with its high downloads and betanews rating this is one of the first I try. Problem is it never fails to make a coaster, and I usually end up settleing for ISO Recorder which is unfortunately feature limited. - BTW Why does it look so much like DVD decrypter, which almost always gave me the same problem when I tried to use it to burn?

This simply put is an AWESOME program. In build mode it even works with Video TS folders (freaking amazing)AND I've never had a problem with ANY disc burned that way.I donated ten bucks and would encourage everyone to donate something.
Reviewing 2.3.2.0 (May 3, 2007)
Absolutely brilliant program. I know it supports reading to image and writing from image, so the only thing that I'd suggest is for an easy-to-use amalgamation of the two - a true "copy" mode. Insert source, remove source, insert destination, remove destination and you're done. THAT would earn a 6-star ranking in my book.
Reviewing 2.3.2.0 (Apr 19, 2007)
Does just what it's supposed to. If there were 6 stars, this app would earn all of them.

Reviewing 2.3.2.0 (Apr 12, 2007)
this is by far the best app to burn cd & dvds.
it lets you burn all types of disc images, has all types of options to play and try, it also shows you info about the discs you insert, what it is doing, change and view things while burning, and check firmware updates for any writer, and many many many more in a tiny download.
one thing: its not for the average user, its for power users! the interface its not beatiful but very useful and it shows everything i want to know while, before and after its burning.
Reviewing 2.3.2.0 (Apr 12, 2007)
A great follow-up to the amazing DVD Decrypter, Lightning UK keeps raising the bar on the quality of the software, as well as the interface design.
It was a sad day when DD was removed from the world, but like a phoenix rising from it's ashes, ImgBurn is a fitting descendant.
I highly recommend it, but try it yourself, and and you will see.

After noticing it supports direct burn, i thought there was only Files->ISO->Burn, ImgBurn pretty much replaced Nero. It doesnt support the more fancy stuff but i dont any use for those.
No idea how the DL stuff etc. works since i only use single layer DVD-/+R discs.

If you have a lot of ISOs to multiple burn, this beats Nero easily. The only thing I don't like is having to press the 'This file is already in your burn list' thing when I am doing sequential multiple copies, but maybe they'll let me turn it off in options one day.

What is new?
Added: Parsing of the Joliet filesystem (in addition to the existing UDF/ISO9660 parsing) for pin pointing the file where a read error is occuring.
Added: Ability to have the program use erase/format commands where DVD-RAM and BD-RE disc then give their full capacity to the user data area and do not keep any 'spare areas' for error recovery. (Potentially useful for PS3)
Added: A little 'Erase' button to the main screen for easy access to disc formatting/erasing functions.
Added: Support for images with a 2332 byte sector size (Easy CD Creator v5 ?)
Added: Support for converting a few additional image formats over to the correct format for burning to DVD (Mode1/2048).
Added: Import / Export of 'Automatic Write Speed' configuration.
Added/Changed: If Build mode detects the file 'I386\NTLDR', it will automatically enable the ISO9660/Joliet options to allow file names without extensions.
Changed: When files/folders are dragged + dropped into the source list in Build mode, they're now added to the MRU list - but only if 8 or less items are added at a time.
Changed: When files added to the source list in Build mode via the 'Browse for file' button, they're now added to the MRU list - but only if 8 or less items are added at a time.
Fixed: Browsing for (and opening) a file (especially in 'Verify' mode) could fail due to some garbage being appended to the filename.
Fixed: A potential error when unlocking a volume from exclusive access when locking it had failed in the first place.
Fixed: File/folder names parsed from the ISO9660 file system could have garbage appended to them if there was no trailing null.
Fixed: Thread synchronisation issue where MD5 values might then be missing from the Log.
Fixed: The first cell in an angle block was being ignored and hence never shown in the 'Create Layer Break Position' window. (The first should have been visible, but not the others)
Fixed: The program displayed the incorrect 'previous' cell in layer break preview if the chosen cell followed one or more interleaved cells.
Fixed: UDF Filesystem didn't allow for the ';' character in file names.
Fixed: The 'Don't Prompt VIDEO_TS Content' option wasn't acutally using the answer specifed in the settings.
Fixed: The Filter Driver Load Order page was listing 'Upper Class Filters - [None Found]' for an item that should have said 'Lower Class Filters - [None Found]'.
Fixed: The wrong item in the Build mode MRU list could get deleted when the 16 item limit was reached. (Number 8 was deleted rather than number 16)
GR8!

I needed to quickly burn an ISO to a CD on my machine at work and did not want to install all the bloat associated with some commercial products. The time it took me to download, install, learn to use the software, and complete the burn took me at most 3 minutes. I attribute this to a very intuitive user interface design along with an excellent coding and testing team (or individual?). Great job!

This app is a 5. Heck, this app is a 6, a 7, an 8, or more. "Over-rated"? Bah!

This is just what I have been hoping for! I have always liked ImgBurn, and the ISO building is the piece de restiance! Now there is a portable 1-File Wonder that does all your burning chores! One can open the install file with 7-Zip, and extract the EXE file, and no install is needed. Copy it to your USB flash drive for complete portability
My only wish is that ImgBurn have a "1-click burn", or "unattended" mode. This would enable 1 click on an ISO file. The click would open ImgBurn, automatically start writing it to the default burner, and automatically close ImgBurn when completed.

This is just an awesome program. Now with the recent updates to this version, it has everything you need. I use this program daily & I could not do without it! :)
Reviewing 2.2.0.0 (Feb 14, 2007)
He has finally added ISO READ / RIP to the program, meaning you can now RIP a data disk straight to ISO and burn it back again to make 1:1 copies.
This long hoped for feature now makes the program compellingly complete. There is now a top notch and still FREE All-In-One app for the ripping, creation and burning of ISO images.
No need to fork out $30-$50 for another app. This one seems now to be able to do it all.
I've made bootable copies of my Bart's PE Builder CD and my Partition Manager Recovery Boot CD as well as a handfull of other 1:1 data disk backups, and so far it has worked flawlessly.
If it did multi-session / multi-track rips, that would be even better, and perhaps he will add that one day. But for now, this is quite good.
Outstanding feature addition now puts it right at the very top of "Must Have Apps".

After spending $99 on Roxio Media Creator 9 which the website touts as having vista support, having the install fail, getting it on by running the MSIs manually, then having the "home" exe crash, as well as the 'Creator Classic' which I launched from the program files directory, I finally gave up and googled (once more) for an ISO burning app with vista support.
CDBurnerXP Pro (freeware) also failed me.
Imgburn installed without a hitch, it was easy to use with verbose information, burned a DVD ISO just fine and played a lovely island tune to let me know when its done. Now I can have a margarita and then take back Media Creator 9.

You've just made yourself look like a complete twat.
Not everyone can afford/be bothered/need the likes of Nero and it's associated bloat to get the job of burning an image done.
This is one of these extremely useful little utils for such people. It does the job and does it well. UNLIKE Nero which has recently suffered from a whole clutch of bugs.

Wow. Harsh, man.
Hey, it's free, does a GREAT job at what it does do and it's pretty darn stable.
I wish it did even more formats than it does so I would not have to get extra apps like PowerISO to decode the .DAA images, etc.
Dude got totally shafted on the DVD Decrypter deal, and it is nice to see that he has been able to take some of that code and turn it into a very useful application.
Also, one thing I'm really pleased about is that this app seems to be able to format my RW disks at times when no other app can even see the disks after a bad burn or a Macintosh burn. Good stuff.
I hope he focuses on the useful feedback instead of hostile and ill-informed posts. If so, the app can only get better.
Kudos LUK!

Guys, for christ'sakes, i don't use Nero, it blows as well. What i'm saying is that ANY burning app (including FREE ones) can do much more than this crap.
Sigh... Another waste of talent. If You got no problems with Your current burning suite then this is TOTALLY useless. Especially since You wouldn't download this in that case anyway. "This tool can only get better" is correct, cause this app has no reason to exist at the moment. "You can even use ImgBurn to erase / format your rewritable media!". Really!? With bloatware computers i guess You'll try anything.
This is the most stupid review i've ever read:
"One of the best, easiest to use, most straightforward CD/DVD burning programs I have ever used. When burning an image, why take the time to launch Nero or some other full-featured burning program when ImgBurn will do the task easier and quicker?"
Of course it's "best", "easiest" and "straightforward", it does ONE thing.
Why take the time to DOWNLOAD an application which is 100% useless when You already got an application installed which loads fast AND does "the job" fast? Idiot.

I think that ImgBurn is the best burning utility for Windows. The current release, in my case, eliminates need for other burning programs. My NEC 4771 burns DVD-RAM discs, which are good for temporary copies. If I want to burn something for good I use DVD+R. ImgBurn and UltraISO makes possible whatever I want (burning, image file conversion, image file edition). I only wish ImgBurn would allow burning ISOs on the fly (no, no I do not need any sessions, just burning ISOs on the fly).
PS I just discovered it is possible: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=1779 Sweet!
Reviewing 2.0.0.0 (Aug 6, 2006)

General burning suggestion:
Reboot and don't have anything major running.
Reviewing 1.2.0.0 (Feb 25, 2006)
I'd give it a 5 but it'll randomly get to 100% then not say the write process is complete. If I hit cancel or stop, it'll just sit there and not stop the burn. The only way to close the program is to bring up task manager and close the process that way. Then the only way to get the disc out and burn again is by restarting my computer.
This program (different versions) as well as its' older brother program did the same thing.
Reviewing 1.2.0.0 (Feb 25, 2006)
