Finally broke down and installed Irfanview 64-bit and un-installed Irfanview 32-bit (I know they co-exist, but it now time to go full fledged 64-bit). Pretty happy that photoshop compatible plugins still work in 64-bit Irfanview. Thanks Irfan. :)

Zoo,
You select area you want to 'crop', then just click on 'Copy' Icon, then hit 'D' key (clear display) and then click 'Paste' and there you will have your croped area without EVER having to use 'Ctrl+Y' key.

All these years and still no crop button. Must hit CTRL-Y. Why?
3 1/2 stars for not much improvement since version 3.92. Just fanboy silliness requests added on to it and no 'real world' practical use additions.

I have tried xnview, acdsee an number of others and found this irfanview most suitable for viewing any kind of image, I can't see any problem with it after using it for many years on a daily basis, it did not support unicode some time ago but now it does, just perfect program as far as I am concerned. Thanks to the developer!

I have used Irfanview for many years now. It has always been a very good program. I do not understand "Rhino's" assertion "However the tactic of installing a toolbar with no warning in order to earn money from google is outrageous." The third page in the installation sequence is devoted solely to the google toolbar. If you do not want it installed you simply uncheck the box that is clearly labeled to indicate your disire to install or not install the toolbar. If you do install it and decide later you do not want it you can easily either disable it in the "View" tab, or you can uninstall it completely with little effort.
Irfanview has a small footprint, uses little resources and has many more functions than programs costing $50 to $100 dollars. Oh and it is FREE!
I cannot think of any thing bad about this Program.

@rhinohide
Maybe the warning screen was too big for you? The one where it asks you on a separate page with a lengthy explanation if you want to install the Google Toolbar?

4.27 Installs Google Toolbar in your IE web browser with no advanced warning whatsoever. VERY unfortunate. Make no mistake about it, this is a fabulous piece of freeware. However the tactic of installing a toolbar with no warning in order to earn money from google is outrageous. I understand and fully support the author's desire to earn money from his creative efforts but he should be honest enough to warn us before installing some crapware on our PCs and let us decide if we want his software. An option to BUY his software should be given if he wants to make money off it. NO extra crapware should EVER be installed without warning.

By the way, it's easy enough to disable browser add-ons in IE 8. Choose Tools ... Manage Add-ons and disable the ones you don't want.

To a musician IrfanView and the plugins are a must have for audio files.
Image and video capabilities are an unbeatable bonus.

Yeah lots of things could be packaged with it. They could package an operating system with it, also. But they don't, and that is fine.

These plugins are an additional download and install when they could be packaged and installed as part of the IrfanView installer.

Never seen so many buggy / non-working / erroneous-version download links for one single app....here's auto-install direct link for the plugins(main link has previous 3.99 version, most others have correct though zip version):
