JetAudio Basic is an integrated multimedia player to replay and convert audio CD's, Midi's, Digital Video, and more.
Reviewing 8.01 (Jan 12, 2010)
Over the years, I've never tried out more programs than from the audio player -category.
It's been a restless hunt for the ultimate...
First of all I've looking for keywords like: High quality, lightweight, good playlist functionality, user friendly, equalizer, customizable, free, and best looking player that I can use as front end to represent my beloved music collection.
So, for all this I find JetAudio to be my favorite as the audio player.
I'm not saying it's the only decent player out there, what I'm saying is there's a tons of programs that is either too siple, too ugly, too un-logic, too full of spyware e.tc...
The closest competitors I would have to say are FooBar2000 and WinAmp, wich are in fact better in certain features, but in overall JetAudio is the King of the Castle in audio player land!
As for a video player, JetAudio is also a great choice, if not the greatest, but here it has to fight with the more customizable MPC-HC!
Without going to specific in what detailed tweaks I've missing, it all comes down to there's probably NO programs that can satisfy ALL your needs for EVERYTHING, unless you writes your own program, though, but so far the the closest I've got to the ultimate media player - is with JetAudio!
For all I know I might never find a better one, but
Anyway, when all comes to all, it ain't the biggest differences between the most popular media players, so I'll guess it's up the eye of the beholder, or personal taste...
Reviewing 7.5.3 (Aug 24, 2009)
Absolutely the best player. Sound quality is amazing. I have just one wish - It would be great if the associated with player file types will have the different icons as in AIMP or foobar.
Reviewing 7.1.0 (May 25, 2008)
Allthough I like this program with alot of funtionalities I had a problem that playing one song one other specific song keeps coming back as second song and that droves my crazy...could not find why this happened...
Version 7 has Folderbrowsing and I hate playlists and if Jetaudio would add it as a part of the design(?) and not under a button I would directly switch from 1by1 to this program..
I will keep an eye on Jet Audio
Reviewing 7.0.5 (Apr 8, 2008)
I tried versions 3, 4, 5, 6 but always found weird problems with graphics - the control buttons are visually stuffed on my machine and are unusable. Tried to get some response from Jetaudio years ago with no luck. Still not fixed in v7.
This thing is a big fat slug that seems to have some ok features... but who really wants to cook audio CD's these days or clog bandwidth transmitting yet more rubbish... nah... too many dumb windows and too fat and slow... 1by1 is the go. Or mediamonkey if you really must have libraries and other such junk. Besides it's really adware.

I switched from JetAudio to Foobar 2 years ago. Now I switch back to JauAudio as there is two features I need but could not fullfil with Foobar: rating songs and play Midi files. JetAudio has a killer feature few people know about, it has a SoftSynt and can convert Midi to MP3. That is how I managed to listen to Midi music with MP3 players. The SoftSynt also allow to listen to Midi with decent quality even on a basic sound card of a laptop.
Reviewing 7.0.3.3016 (Jul 13, 2007)
Great Player. Associate it and for get it. Run it and tell it to load in the system tray, and it'll hide everytime. I even tried the media manager, and sorta enjoyed it. Though the media manager, looks like MediaMonkey. But wait there's more. JetAudio, can broadcast, play audio and video files, converts, rips, & burns CD's, etc. Even puts WMP to shame. Only the raddist player around. Go Cowon
Reviewing 7.0.3.3016 (Jun 11, 2007)
It just doesn't measure up, even to iTunes. Interface has too many non-attached windows / pop-ups, though it is nice that you can purchase only the add-ons you need. That's why I give it a 2 instead of a 1. It really is not that well designed, it pauses / hesitates sometimes where even Music Match Jukebox doesn't.
Not likely I'll try this one again.
Reviewing 7.0.3.3016 (Jun 9, 2007)
of all the mediaplayers jetaudio is indeed one of the most comprehensive. i like it.
however i have found it can be unstable. i have experienced severe systems crashes when playing flv files on occasion. and i have found playing vob files can be inconsistent. sometimes it will. and sometimes it wont. y.m.m.v"
Reviewing 7.0.0.3001 (May 2, 2007)
i got jetaudio yesterday and the thing is amazing. its the only all in on multimedia player that ive used that not only plays music and videos, but it plays flv files which usually u have to use a something like vlc or GOM to do that. it also has a convertor as well as a cd ripper and burner. on top of that u can have it go to toolbar mode and it sit right under your browser and has customizable skins. this is all from the free version.
ps mine is free and doesnt have pop-ups or adware

Reviewing 6.2.6 (Nov 22, 2006)
Pro version w/ the proper sound settings is the best sounding MP3 player out there. Also useful for burning CDs
Pretty much useless for everything else in comparison to other apps.
Reviewing 6.2.6 (Mar 2, 2006)
The freeware version comes complete with popup ads. A shareware version (without ads) is available for $29.00.
Reviewing 6.2.4 (Oct 27, 2005)
JetAudio was once my player of choice. One major factor in removing it from my computer was indeed that &^$ Information Viewer. It causes a huge performance hit, too much so. I don't mind ads, but they cannot get in the way of other tasks.
And, unless I'm mistaken, Winamp one-ups JetAudio big-time by integrating with telephony to automatically stop playback when my PC's phone rings. That feature's absence alone reduces my former highest rating to very near the lowest rating. That &%&@* Information Viewer then moves it even lower.
Reviewing 6.2.4 (Oct 27, 2005)
Great player, huge download for my sorry a** dial-up connection. How the hell do I turn off (or eliminate)the information viewer? It tries to dial out every time I open the prog.
Reviewing 6.2.3 (Oct 21, 2005)
RealPlayer's twin brother. Same multyfunctionality and even more. No winamp-related suck-things.
Reviewing 6.2.2 (Sep 2, 2005)
Best media player ever... First one to beat Windows Media Player... I love the toolbar mode, and the multichannel DVD playback...
Reviewing 6.2.2 (Sep 1, 2005)
This is the best media player I have found so far, that ... most importantly to me ... does not freeze up while playing video clips like Windows Media Player and Real Player sometimes have. (You know when the video clip freezes up for a few seconds, I forgot the proper term) Oh and it plays pretty much any file, some that Windows Media Player and Real Player wont play (like foreign formatted DVDs for example) This program is far less bloated than the other two I mentioned. And they fix any errors pretty quick, I had the skin error too, where the program crashed if you changed the skin, but now it is fixed, or at least it works on my computer (the newest version of jetaudio)
Reviewing 6.2.1 (Aug 9, 2005)
Jetaudio Basic Version 6.2.1.6 seems to have conflicts with
the www.peoplepc.com dialer Version 6.2.3....jetaudio
will easily play .pls,.m3u,.ram files no problem....
Version 6.2.3 cannot play .asx or .asf files (in Windows XP
Home Edition) located at www.radio-locator.com....other
than that I would choose Jetaudio Basic 6.2.1.6 over
Windows Media Player any day.....OFF TOPIC...recommended

Excellent program, this was one of the first I used to handle mp3's and whatnot. Later I tried other programs but then I came back to this one later on. I give it only a 4 for a few lil' things, from time to time, a pop up window appears, nagware, and recently I had some issues and couldnt change the skin I was using, the program would shut down, so I had to uninstall it and get the latest version. It's easy to use and pleasing to the eye of course. I use JetAudio for single mp3's and XMPlay to handle my playlists.
Reviewing 6.1.3 (Feb 27, 2005)
Super multimedia player!!! Works great, clear sound
good quality and free. The skins may need some more work.
Reviewing 6.1.0 (Feb 12, 2005)
WOW!!! I was looking for midi2wav or so... when i found out Jetaudio i got amazed, is so simply to use, and in the same time it has a lot of powerful tools! I solved my problem in minutes. And is mostly a freeware, the player is excellent as well. I have never write a review before, but i tough this one deserve the few extra minutes.to say thanks guys keep going with the good work!
Reviewing 6.0.0.4225 (Feb 29, 2004)
These are mislabeled as shareware. To be accurate it is free. The link refers to the free basic version without the BBE sound enhancements. FileForum should correct this continuing inaccuracy. This happens alot, i.e.: Stardock Skin Studio! Not shareware but free nagware. This program still rocks. I did however discover that this sounde best with soundblaster drivers using the Environment Party via S.B settings, not JetAudio. I currently use KxAudio drivers. They have amazing clarity that actually made the extra sound processing of JetAudio overkill. Together they were muddled and very dissapointing. Hence WinAmp5. Little to no prior signal processing letting the KxAudio do it's job. JetAudio is worth while still for you S.B.driver users and for those who demand HiFi, KxAudio users, I would recommend the Premium version of JetAudio as the BBE sound processing along with X-Bass work together in harmony to add a new level off,"Is that your computer speakers playing that song?" "DAMN"!!!
Reviewing 5.1.10 (Nov 29, 2003)
The Shiz!! By far better hi-fi than winamp. This IS free in basic version. The only gain from paying is integrated cd burner & mp3 convesion. Oh also you can stream your own music. This baby is rock solid. It uses less resources than winamp (1meg). Sound expander (StereoWide) built-in and fully ajustable effects. Needs more skins!! Plays DVD & Mpeg to. Heard complaints on it's apperance, but I LIKE IT!
Reviewing 5.1.10 (Nov 28, 2003)
JetAudio use its softsyn to play MIDI. I'd like to see it offer an option to select the MIDI device. However, the softsyn is great to convert MIDI to MP3. The download link is old: JetAudio 5.1.6.2618 (not 5.1.10)
Reviewing 5.14 (Jul 29, 2003)
Ive tried many, I really like N-Player but this Jet Audio is the one that'll stay on my system, it is superior, the sound is fantastic!
Reviewing 5.1 (Mar 29, 2003)
A must have. In my opinion, better than Winamp.
(I think JetAudio is now a freeware in its basic version)
