Is on v7.2 now. My long search is over. This is fantastically written backup software. Very easy to use. Everything is well thought out.

This software has a nice interface and (for the most part) a nice feature set. The fatal flaw, for me, is that if you backup to FTP, it is totally incapable of comparing the contents of the backup source to that of the FTP server.

I asked the author to consider adding this feature, and the response I got was (literally) "If the backup was successful, the files are on the FTP server." But, uhh... No, that's not necessarily true. FTP servers are computers too, and things happen. Things go wrong. Transfers fail. Computers freeze or crash. People screw up. And when you're backing up to FTP, KLS Backup does not update its local database (to keep track of which files have been uploaded to the FTP server) until the entire process is complete. This means that if your system or the application crashes, or something else goes wrong, that database won't ever get updated, and KLS Backup will have no idea that any files at all were uploaded. And remember, KLS Backup cannot compare the source and the FTP, so you'll have fun dealing with that little mess!

I give KLS Backup a charitable 3.

V5.0.0.0 is great. Some nice features added such as secondary backup destination, animated tray icon, Windows 7 support, command line option, etc.. I really like the flexible backup options and plugins to backup data and custom settings for many popular apps including Outlook, Firefox, IE, etc... Even has a sync tool thats good for basic to mid sync requirements but its not as powerful as Syncback. visit www.kls-soft.com for more details.

Best part is that its relatively small footprint, reliable and runs as a service. I haven't experienced a crash with this app since I began using V4.5 several months back. Worth a look!

Worth taking a look at. Comparable to Genie Backup in that it backs up profile data from applications such as Outlook, Firefox, etc. Makes it real easy to restore in the event of a system rebuild or upgrade to new computer. Backup and sync tools are very strong and work well. Lots of flexibility. Its not perfect, as it could use a bit of GUI tweaking to make it easier to navigate. Haven't experienced a single issue/crash with V4.6.5.0. Highly recommended.
