   Must be some problem with MPC or bundled codec with this pack, having problems with .flv and .avi playback, never had any issues with K-Lite before. Will render the first few frames of the file, then have the video playback stop, while audio continues. Will wait for an update, then maybe will try this codec pack again.

    I've been using K-Lite Codec Pack for so many years that I can't remember when I first started using it. I install K-Lite Codec Packs on all of my / friends / family computers.
    
    I recommend K-Lite Mega flavor for 32-bit Windows. If you have 64-bit Windows, then you need to download that special flavor of K-Lite.
    
    If you don't know what codec collection to get, most people will likely pick a far worse collection than K-Lite. Don't waste your time with other codec collections!

    Can't give it a 5 as this includes media player classic, most corporations have a fairly strict software polocy that doesn't neccesarily include MPC. Yes you don't have to install it, but you can't put it on a file server cause the adverage user will just click next a bunch of times, and the "Basic" version has to few codecs.

    I tried several different codec packs and settled with K-Lite, which I've happily used for several years.
    
    SOME ADVICE: Select the smallest package that meets your needs, to minimize potential conflicts with other components in your system. Most people are fine with K-Lite Basic. K-Lite Standard satisfies nearly all the rest. Very, very few people have any true reason to use the "Full" or "Mega" packs. (Don't flatter yourself.) VERY rarely, unless you insist on mega-pack overkill, an update will cause a problem. Simply roll back to your old version and wait for the next K-Lite update. The K-Lite team has the BEST record of clean, conflict-free codec packs.
    
    People who want to do their own encoding are best-served by installing the specific encoder(s) they need rather than using the "full" or "mega" packs. That's my opinion. Everyone's got one. (The same could be argued for codecs. It's a question of convenience.)
    
    Don't complain if you already know all of the above. LOTS of people don't know.
