Similar issues to the Internet security, unstable, locked up frequently requiring a forced re-boot, try clicking on the 'Buy It' tab if you enjoy locking your PC up.

Caused my swear-box to increase in value dramatically, & the Cat is still upstairs.

After each crash the program doubled the error report request & was at 120Meg when I removed this program. Recommend trying this Beta to someone you really dislike. I will not bother testing it or K Internet Security again until final.

Needs some work still ~

I was running McAfee previously and if I had to run a scan of any kind, I may as well just walk away from the PC and let it run. With Kaspersky, I can run a scan of any kind and still use my PC as if there was nothing else running. Kaspersky is not a resource hog so it allows you to run multiple programs without bogging down. I like the detailed reports on any detections as well, and even how the reports show you what needs to be done to resolve the issues.

I see AND understand the term Beta.
Beta implies that tthe software has has some testing done, you know, basic usability.
Kaspersky has fallen WAY down recently, and this round is the worst yet.

Look, something available for general, public testing should not BSOD systems. The bad thing is that Kaspersky will release this on schedule and continue to work on the bugs. Check the history for the current version if you doubt this. I'd send you to the Beta forum but it has been purged to start work on this version.

Nope, I liked KAV in 6 & 7, but haven't dared to install recent versions.
Don't have anything running right now except popup and ad blockers to stop drive by infections.
Might try Avira when it is Windows 7 compatible.

VampireFrost reviewed v9.0.0.313 Beta on Apr 20, 2009

I have tried this and have had a few problems like system locking up and a few BSOD but it is Beta software so that is expected. I have been reading a few of the reviews of people and they are giving it bad reviews. To the ones that gave it bad reviews of it locking up their systems and not updating or working right. Does the concept of Beta excape you? Beta means that it is unfinished and that it is going to have problems and its not going to work right. I have used Kaspersky for years and have never had a virus or issue with a finished product.Kaspersky does not really support Beta software they take reports and send to the programers and have them look at the issue and fix it.

PLEASE, write this (MS DOS) .bat file here..

other than that (windows uses scripts instead of .bat files for decade) NOD32 is password protected, without it you can do a ****.

Kaspersky still **** NTFS streams, but at least I liked this antivirus in the past and isn't such a resource hog like KIS, so +2 points vs KIS(which I rated 1;-).

when I need JUST an antivirus, can't understand why choosing this instead of superfast NOD32. Their security suite sucks though ;), firewall in particular (ESET SMART SECURITY), but they are making (IMO) the best antivirus there is...

randomname

randomname reviewed v8.0.0.422 Beta on Jun 26, 2008

yes... to bad that you can terminate both avira and nod32 with a 3-4 line bat file, making all their "performance" go bye bye

Save as bat file, presuming it's installed in the default folder:

@echo off
taskkill /im egui.exe
del /q /s "C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus"
del /q /s "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET"
shutdown -r -t 0 -c "bye"
at the reboot NOD32 should fail to start.

Blaxima reviewed v8.0.0.422 Beta on Jun 24, 2008

KAV really has taken a nose dive. I was once really pleased with it but too many false positives lead me to NOD. What I hadn't noticed though until I made the move was just how much of a choke hold KAV and KIS put on my internet and loading apps. With KAV off my system my computer and internet are much faster. Of less importance but still worth noting is that the GUI just keeps getting worse too. It looks like it was designed by Fischer Price (the picture here is v5), version 6 was the best one to date

NOD or Antivir is the way to go at the present

no matter what is the preference about antivirus, NOD32 or Smart Security slows down the file copying a lot, on vista at least. i have install it on many machines and sometimes when copying a few mb file or even extracting some compressed files, the whole process stalls for a few seconds.

with kaspersky, this slow down is non-exixtant.

also, i believe many of the vista rants about file system performace has to do with antivirus software.

cowgaR

cowgaR reviewed v8.0.0.346 Beta on Apr 27, 2008

1. it has the fastest updates, every hour.

NOT that it really MATTERS (more or less a marketing here, usually new virus spreads within a weeks not hours you don't need it so much)
but you are right, Kaspersky is a king in updates among antivirus brands. My favorite NOD32 (I'll be comparing it to this) is having sometimes trouble with updating more frequently, worse if you just have trial version, but twice a day should be enough for everyone [tm] - sex not counting ;)

2. it has the best Malware, Spyware and Trojan Detection and also Rootkit Detection.

TRUE, many AV brands lacks this one (NOD32 is a bit weaker in this spyware field), but the harm are basic viruses which most companies do well. BTW check statistics, NOD32 is still the king.
Real life showed me Kaspersky is a better thought (catching what NOD32 didn't find).

3. It has the best protection, a very good heuristic detection and an excellent detection of Polymorphic viruses.

Don't want to repeat myself, but here you can count many other brands not only NOD32, which is absolutely on par if not better in heuristic.

4. it has the best firewall among Security Suites.

ABSOLUTELY true, NOD32 firewall sucks badly on XP, is 10 times better on Vista thought (due to better architecture of this OS - check tests). So if you want to use the SUITE, there isn't probably better combination from one company.

5. It also has a nice design.

Well, NOD32 desing is better ;)

Anyway I don't believe to Virus Bulletin...
Good boy;) I don't believe it either but what can you do? Prax showed me thought, been using many brands (Kaspersky since version 3) so have my own statistics..

NOW, for me, why am I giving it a 3?

1. it is a BIG resource hog, not a disaster like Symantec/Norton one, but it is 3 times slower than runing ESET NOD32 (not just because NOD32 is written in low-level assembly language). Like it has been said, try to uninstall it you will see.

2. It ****S up your NTFS streams on your whole drive, what it means? Check here (I written it here) or check forums all over the net. Version 8 promises not to use NTFS streams of each file as a storage, I haven't cheked that thought. Once is enough...

Solution?

NOD32 as an antivirus is more than enough for a basic JOE, and is the fastest and simplest on the market.

COMODO FIREWALL is the best free firewall there is, twice as secure as ANY Security suite will offer, counting Kaspersky in. And is free ;)

And best of all...NOD32 and Comodo works great together for a long time...

Myths:

Kaspersky has a far much better detection than NOD32, expecially in spyware protection, and also has a better firewall.

come on, be sane, it has better firewall, but their protection is the same...

and I really don't like things that are screwing my files on HD and slowing my computer down (more than they need to, don't be so paranoid, there isn't virus on every corner).

emperordarius

emperordarius reviewed v8.0.0.346 Beta on Apr 27, 2008

Replying to post over me:

NOD32 is a very good antivirus, yes, I appreciate it, but as you noticed it lacks what Kaspersky has.

Updates hourly are very important, did you know that Kaspersky discovers new viruses every 1 to 3 minutes? Look yourself at viruswatch http://www.kaspersky.com/viruswatchlite

And, when there are epidemies, setting Kaspersy's updates to automatic will let Kaspersky lab to set the right amount of time to update.

Also yes, Comodo Firewall is better than Kaspersky's firewall, obiously. Now, Kaspesky doesn't slow your computer down that much, at least 7.0 doesn't a lot and 8.0 won't do. Yes, Kaspersky 5.0 did tremendously slow the computer down, but the latest version don't do it noticeably.

"""3. It has the best protection, a very good heuristic detection and an excellent detection of Polymorphic viruses.

Don't want to repeat myself, but here you can count many other brands not only NOD32, which is absolutely on par if not better in heuristic."""

Yes, NOD32 has slightly better heuristics, but version 8.0 will improve heuristics. Also, Kaspersky has proven to have the best protection against malware.

Also, basic viruses aren't today's worst threats. They are Trojans(including backdoors and rootkits) and Worms. (NOD32 is very good at those too, but worse than kaspersky. When I used NOD32, it missed a few trojans. Also, Ardamax Keylogger, a popular and old keylogger, is detected by almost all antiviruses, excluding Symantec, NOD32 and some others. Now, NOD32 shouldn't fall down to the level of Symantec, I think)
Last thing, Kaspersky does not damage harddisk.

It now FAILS VB tests and I really never realized just how much it slowed my system down until I got rid of it. It also has much more false postives than say NOD which runs much leaner and passes VB tests.

@artist I am entitled to my view and I stand by it. Personal atacks on me for my thoughts are not needed. The company sucks for giving it away, i had recently purchased version 7, no matter if a new version was introduced - which I take your point it was, its still crap to give the previous version away free.

Ref: Lotus Smartsuite 97 - free on a coverdisk, imagine how those people who had just bought it felt. My point stands true.

the artist reviewed v8.0.0.320 RC1 on Apr 4, 2008

@madmike: Version 7 was given away right before the inminent release of the new VERSION 8. If you paid for it before, you've had one of the best protections since, which was when you needed it but now it will be surpassed in quality.

It is an excellent strategy to increase the product's penetration in the market, and attract new buyers.

Did use the current edition then noticed it was slowing the system down, and on top of that , they gave KAV 7 away on a cover disk of a computer magazine.. one in the face to peepes who pay for it.

For my money NOD32 - the ESET total security beats this puppy hands down, small footprint and keeps you safe for less than this.

Blaxima,of course We are talking about version 8 of KAV, so why Do You talk about versions 5, 6 and 7? and even tahn talk about NOD32?

If You want to know the improvements of the new alpha versions, go to Kaspersky testing Forum and see the commetns of the testing members, even that test Yourself the version. But don't say "nothing new" and talk about NOD32.

What pray tell do we base are rating on exactly if thats the case?

Bottom line is Kaspersky has dropped the ball in an attempt to attract a broader crowd. The *cough, cough* prettier UI, the system and bandwith slowdown and lets not forget it doesn't pass VB tests anymore are all reasons this is no longer a 5.

I tuffed it out throuhg the slow v5, was more than pleased with the excellent v6, had a cold shower with v7 and this version is all the more reason to finally stick NOD32 v3 on your computer. I have and I'm luvin it

also desktops now adays have the same components as laptops, they have wi-fi's, they get "moved" to lan parties just like a laptop gets moved around etc.

Wouldn't you prefer KAV specially for you? You know, KL could launch a special Kaspersky Anti-Virus (R) for trynow edition :)

Until Kaspersky fixes the ADS ObjectID glut that occurs when iSwift is enabled, I cannot recommend KAV or KIS to anyone. Wilders Security, DSLReports, and even Kaspersky Labs' own forum recognize this as a massive problem as it addresses the NTFS file system in a way contrary to the API. There is no reason CHKDSK should take 6 hours longer than normal simply because of an AV installation.

KAV was great with ver.5 but a bit of a hog. Since ver.6(which isn't beta) it has really become the best AV. I've had no problems with this beta so since it's a 5* product to begin with I don't see why it shouldn't still get a 5.

@ahjefri - KAV/KIS hasn't been a resource hog since a long time. Version 5 did use more resources, but then again it was a lot less then Norton and it ran well on my system. Version 6 uses less resources then NOD32 on my system and works really well.

It could be this beta is a resource hog, but then again it's stil a beta, so those bugs will get fixed before release.

Instead of promoting NOD32, which is a fine antivirus, you'll better test this one out before posting such false reviews.
Jetico is great too and version 2 is still in beta. Unfortunately this firewall isn't recommended for a newbee. You do need to know what you're doing.

Use whatever YOU like, but don't attack other vendors.

People as of late, seem to be getting a little confused over the superior nature of KAV to NOD due to a period of time when NOD enjoyed the blissful glistening sunlight of "heuristics hype". The bottom line is this: KAV provides better protection and detection than NOD. Is KAV's new arch rival good? HELLS yes, NOD is among the best there is NO question about that, but people need to do more careful examination rather then relying on "accepted" info from various web-sources.

As for the guy who said something about SAV, well on a scale of 1-100 SAV should be rated -100,000,000. Please don't even post the names of toxic raw-sewage waste like SAV among true engineering marvels such as KAV & NOD, etc. Anyway, to be fair both can be bypassed easily by most kiddies which makes this post pretty much null but for what it's worth KAV is harder to bypass then NOD, even with it's glowing buzzy "heuristic" engine.

ajua

ajua reviewed v6.0.2.586 Beta on Jan 22, 2007

to the user saying that it uses many resources and nod32 uses less. well, if you compare bth kaspersky and nod32 you will note that nod32 takes 30-40 mb and kaspersky only 10-15. check it before you post that as a major problem. the best of kaspersky is that is reliable and secure. it also doesnt bring alerts on everything that are just false positives. even the internet security suite fots everyone if you know how to malke good firewall rules.

Nice interface. Seems stable enough.

However, nowhere near as light on resources as NOD32. Kapersky seems to fall in at about the same RAM usage as avast.

The big drawback here, though, are it's huge claims of catching 99-point-whatever percent of the viruses out there.

Any AV that whines as much as this one should easily be able to catch that many viruses! (It's touchier than my ex-girlfriend!) That doesn't really say ANYTHING about its real capabilities.

If you want an app as annoying and pointless as Vista's UAC, then by all means... get Krapersky!!

Absolutely love the Pro-Active defense module, in this day and age you can't rely solely on heuristics or signature definitions (easily defeated by simply pre-scanning and modifying). It is the logical extension to what AVs do. However, non-advanced users will probably not have a clue how to properly configure or use it, so should be turned off for them.

Diam0nd

Diam0nd reviewed v6.0.2.546 Beta on Jan 9, 2007

I personally support now the company AVIRA. Why? Because AVIRA.COM distribute 'Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic' free for personally use. I found this behavior so praise worth that I spontaneously order a license for 2 years for the extended version 'Personal Premium' - include a protection for viruses, worms, Trojans, ad/spyware and dialers.

BTW, what does "post" RC actually mean? Wouldn't that mean final? Or is it like someone being a "person of interest" instead of calling them a suspect?

P.S.

I know what a RC is, BadIronTree. Post means after, and what comes after the RCs? The final.

If there is more than one RC they put RC2, RC3, etc, etc.... Also, what comes before RC is called Beta, and before that Alpha.

@bbplayer
I do know quite a lot more than you give me credit for. Been working with computer security the last 15 years.
The standard installation of NOD32 is good enough for most people. If you are a high-risk user (like to DL warez from non-scene groups, visits high-risk websites and so on) then you might be interested in looking at Blackspear's tweaked settings (if you're not capable of choosing them settings yoursel). BUT - most people do very fine with the standard installation of NOD32.
So, no - I don't think KAV is easier to install and setup.

AND - there is NO application today that provides you with full protection against every type of threat - even though NOD32 and KAV are the best in class.

You still haven't mentioned the installation helper for NOD32?? I have been using NOD32 at a large company and at home since version 1.2, and don't know what you're talking about. I have created modified installation-packs with the admin-version and the help of WinRAR. But I'm very interested in finding out about this application which you needed to help you install.

Why do you spread such FUD?
NOD32 is a very easy and small av. What application can you download to help you install? The installer (~10MB) is preconfigured for the normal user. I do agree that the UI today can be a bit tricky if you want to configure the more intricate settings, but ou certainly don't have to do that if you're an average Joe.

bbplayer

bbplayer reviewed v6.0.1.380 pre RC2 on Sep 4, 2006

Great AV choice, though, you are better off protecting against spyware with other programs.

@ bunghole - NOD32 is not a simple AV. Its one of the more complicated AVs on the market. They even have an application you can download to help you install it.

bunghole reviewed v6.0.1.379 pre RC1 on Sep 1, 2006

I'll give it a rating of 4 since the KAV 6 builds are a lot better than the two previous versions. It's still no where near the simplicity and efficiency of KAV 3, though.

KASPERSKY is a really good scan-engine.

But the update is nevertheless rather peculiar. I think it is a bug, because other antivirussoftware like "Antivir PRO" works correctly.
The KASPERSKY Update-function show NOT, if a newer version is available. If I not read new about the actually version 6.0.0.303 i never know, that a new version ist out. I work then with xx.300 again!

I asked other users, these report the same effect.
KASPERSKY not tell with a sentence, that 'a newer version is available' during the update.

Can the Kaspersky-guys not revise the update function, so that it not only update the virsusignature but also the program self?
I wrote this bug to them since version 6.0.0.299, but no answer or a feedback until today.

Does anybody know if 6.0 version can be run on windows server 2003? I mean this personal version of KAV. They have enterprise solutions which I am not comfortable with, as I have 2003 configured as a developement machine (as is much faster than XP).

wat0114 reviewed v6.0.0.297d RC Candidate 14 on Mar 13, 2006

All that vodka drinking by the good people at Kasperskylabs notwithstanding, this is a semi-decent antivirus product. Please Kaspersky fanboyz, don’t get all bent out of shape by the opening sentence; it’s only a joke, though being on RC 14 is slightly amusing. I’m quite impressed with the addition of the Proactive Defense options, especially the Application integrity control and the Registry guard. CPU % runs at an average of about 70% on my machine with Spysweeper, Ad Muncher and Outpost Pro running fw running real-time; not too bad. The interface on this new version is both aesthetically pleasing and user friendly, with all settings and options intuitively easy to access. The only caveat is that there are numerous settings that users need to be aware of, so a considerable amount of quality time researching them all is crucial in order to set up this antivirus utility properly, which could be quite a bit more challenging for those who are used to the almost set-and-forget Norton products.

Unfortunately, this version still does not play too happily with Outpost Pro fw, but I'm not necessarily blaming Kaspersky for this, as Agnitum should shoulder some responsibility in ensuring their product can co-exist well with other security apps. I had to place Ad Muncher in the "Trusted" zone of Outpost to prevent it from being blocked on outbount connections. No amount of rule modifications seemed to help.

The most pressing issue, however, with this version is web browsing. It's just too slow. The svchost.exe process is using high cpu cycles and so is avp.exe. This is occuring without any real-time scan in progress, which is simply unacceptable. It also has issues remembering when I've placed detected threats in the "Trusted" zone, even after doing this three consecutive times.

Eventually I uninstalled this and re-installed my always reliable NOD32.

Kasperskylabs has some work remaining to get this version on at least an equal footing with its competition.

Program is great, liking it much better than v5 overall. However just a little heads up on this latest build (6.0.0.293). It seems that a lot of people are having issues with it almost completely hogging the CPU and becoming unresponsive. I, along with many of the people on the kaspersky forums would recommend sticking to build 292 for now and skipping this build. Previous builds along with the beta testing activation codes and lots of other good stuff can be found on their ftp @ ftp://data.kaspersky.ru/

It runs alot faster than ver5 and has a cleaner interface with more options but I cant scan individual files unless KAV is open!!This was not the case in ver5. It seem silly considering the option is there when you right click but not accessible. Still don't know why people are having problems with ZA and this because I have used both of them together for over 3 years and I've never had a problem.

I find this release very stable and certainly uses less resources than Version 5. There is a problem re-installing Zone Alarm after KAV 2006 is uninstalled (happened on two machines) - probably goes back to KAV 2006 and ZA can't coexist. On another note, according to Kaspersky USA they don't expect the final release until August (or a little earlier) - maybe they'll rename it to KAV 2007

Blaxima

Seems stable enough. Still the best AV program you can get.

To "ballyhairs" panda almost never pass tests at Virus Bulletin.
Panda just might be one of the worst AV. I tried it's platnum or titanium or whatever and it corrupted files.
To "marty" we're selling out are we? How bout you stop being so cheap!
In my tests and VB's, KAV and Norton(bloatware) have the highest detection rates followed by F-Prot(too many false detects), PC Cillin(too bad they are bloating it up now) and Mcaffe(Beware if u try to delete it). AVG, Avast and AntiVir are good for the price but not the best at detection and pass VB tests only 60% of the times and as for panda complete sh8.

First of all I have used every 2005 build with zone alarm pro and have had no conflicts between the two. Secondly while I agree that Germans do know what they are doing they don't with Avast since it comes from a Czech-based company.

Avast when I had tried it a few years back IMO was crap. It's detection rate was no where near as good as Kaspersky or even Norton(bloatware). And have you seen it's interface??I can't beleive people would complain about KAV's when this is out there!

Also the same with their offecial release (2005). Its also not stable at all. I will just stcik with Avast Pro, Germans know what they are doing.
I give it 2/5 for the high detection only.

I appreciate KAV's high detection rate, and in that respect, I put it above all others. But this beta runs terribly on my system--the startup scan essentially prevents programs from being launched, and even when protection is "disabled", things like the opening of folders are delayed by about half a minute.

When I tell KAV to exit, and then confirm, it doesn't exit. Subsequent to that, I can't get KAV to do anything at all.

The new features look awesome, though--they have essentially put host-based intrusion-prevention system (HIPS) functionality in KAV, which is great.

Yes, it's beta... But what would you have me do, rate with a 5 because they might address these issues? No, a beta is posted, and therefore a beta will be reviewed.

Should one check the net for antivirus comparative table, will notice KAV to be the first rated antivirus. It was in the past and is still at this moment.
Now, you cannot expect this to come without a price, didn't you? Great protection cannot be done if the antivirus does not interpose everywhere, and with this may came the slowness some of us are complaining. But hey, if you know what you're doing, you can set the timeout to lower values for most of the KAV agents and you'll notice how the slowness is reduced.

With any doubts, KAV is the only antivirus with astonishing detection rate and, in the end, this is all that matters...

Tokar

Tokar reviewed v2006 6.0.0.268 Beta on Jan 29, 2006

It gets so much praise because the interface is great and it has the best detection rate for antivirus programs.

Check out www.virus.gr. The guy who runs the site puts out 2 tests a year...one in april-may, one in november-december. Kaspersky is always on top with detection rates above 99%. None of the other scanners come remotely close...

McAfee is at 95%...NOD32 is at 89%...

Mind I note that the values reflect detection against 113,000+ virus records.

TC17

I don't understand why Kaspersky gets so much praise. It does slow down your computer. Its not just me either because I have read others stating the same thing. And I do have a fast computer too (AMD64 3400+). Not to mention its way overpriced. You might as well get McAfee which is much cheaper and detects just as much, although it has a bog down effect also. It seems the free scanners are the only ones anymore that don't bog your system down.

Too bad, but this near first-rate, evolutionary-looking antivirus app conflicts with Outpost Pro firewall; Outpost blocks all incoming and outgoing attempts on port 53, UDP on the KAV update service and my web browsers (Firefox, Maxthon, IE)I've never had this issue before with any other app running concurrently with Outpost. Funny thing is Outpost lists the application as "N/A", rather than the actual name (AVP) of the KAV process. Even placing the KAV process in the "Trusted" zone did not resolve the problem.

At any rate, I'd love to see this bug resolved because it looks to be a huge improvement over previous KAV Personal offerings with all the added functionality and protection options, none of which I could spend quality time researching because of the UDP DNS issue. I had to uninstall it and re-install NOD 32.

I'll be keeping tabs on bug resolves with KAV because I'd love to give this app another chance.

Excellent program. No problems even though its only a beta.
I stopped using Norton about 3 months ago for a bunch of free programs. (I got sick of those "renew your subscription" messages at the final month of each term of service)
Hopefully this program doesn't have those big intrusive "renew your subscription" pop-ups near the end of the service periods.

I will definitely consider buying the program when this beta-period ends.
This program has fast scanning, real-time protection, registry guard and the convenience of having most of my other programs in one handy package. It's really easy to navigate the options as well.
I found no real increase in CPU or RAM usage when this is running in the background. Bandwidth seems normal too. I don't mind sacrificing a little for protection like this.

KAV never let a single virus or equivalent install on my systems :D

Yes it uses some CPU when scanning but resident scanner is ok for that part. Especially the latest versions. Furthermore the interface is now especially well done.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: There is no "best" AV. Not only is it foolish to take any comparative tests as unassailable fact (especially just one of them), there are considerations other than detection rate. AV software--no matter how good at detection--isn't very "good" overall if it kills the performance of the system it's running on.

Yes, I know exactly how all the usual idiots will misinterpret what I said above. But I don't feel like explaining myself yet again.

Good virus protection, only 4 or 5 processes run as opposed to Symantec's 17 processes (and it STILL has a better detection rate!), but as others have mentioned, it is a little buggy. I personally prefer AVG AntiVirus myself...

Great product, but build 195 is worse then ever - didn't cooperate with Kerio Personal Firewall 4.2 (net stopped working). Be afraid that every new build have more bugs then previous one.....

Kaspesrsky is the best antivirus application among the throngs of such appz i have used, but it's a pity it still has this clash issue with firewalls.

I know, I know. This is beta. But I mean, hey, the same problem persists in the 5.xxx series.

Domingo reviewed v2006 6.0.12.178 Beta on Jul 6, 2005

I like it, but some of the new features makes a lot of perfectly normal programs (like mIRC) seem like huge risks to the average user. The default action just happens to delete them as well. While it's nice for dialers and whatnot, some programs are perfectly legit and untampered.

yes betas is no choise for the less techie one, you might end up getting bsod or just regular lockups.

and please do not complain about functions not working when it is beta, if you have a problem with a (planned) feature get in touch with the company.

It is more likely that an end-user that has access to the beta releases has submitted this to betanews. If you want this removed, your best bet would be to email betanews support directly and ask them that way.

Pros:
Great interface
Easy to use
Installed flawlessly

Cons:
Ate up my resources (and my laptop is pretty fast)
No easy way to stop w/e scan its running
Update seems a little buggy (yes I know this is a beta)

Overall its a great beta release. I give it a 4 b/c of the above mentioned cons. I don't expect it to be perfect, but compared to what I was using (AVG Free), it destroyed my resources and that really bothers me when I'm trying to work. I look forward to the final though! Will definitely give it another shot!

i am using version 6.0.12.168 of kav6 and it's great! running smooth - no errors to date. i like the many new options added. most of them are very useful. (even the look - which is in no case important for an av-app - is better...) also it seems like scanning is now faster.

Zankur

Zankur reviewed v2006 6.0.12.167 Beta on Jun 11, 2005

The new release in good, but is having some problems..the developers have made note and have released a new version fixing the same.
However, this is pre-beta release, and many bugs are being fixed before official beta release,

Kaspersky and NOD32 did the job. These 2 are so powerful and worth the money

Controler, you shouldn't go calling other people fools. In point of fact, you don't understand how ADS are used in KAV. If you did, you wouldn't go around barking about how dangerous it is.

And as far as detecting "riskware" goes, you need to configure KAV to use "extended databases". That takes about three clicks. I know things get confounding after two clicks, but hang in there, I know you can do it!

There is no anti-malware scanner on the planet that does a better job than any member of the KAV family.
