LAMEr is a GUI front end for the LAME freeware MP3 encoder. LAMEr takes out all the hazzle of encoding files with LAME - including ID3 tagging of the encoded files. You select the files to encode via a standard file requester, adjust the parameters, enter the ID3 tags (separately available for each file, a very rare feature among other front ends), and hit the "Encode" button.
- Fixed: Recorder buffer problems on weak CPU
- Fixed: Problem with the "Additional Parameters" that messed up the whole command line
- Fixed: Decoding stopper in some rare cases
- Fixed: The app disappear/crash bug while decoding
- Fixed: Recorder crashed when closing its window 'cause the sampling device was already in use
- Added input option: use ID3 Tags of input MP3s
Reviewing 1.20 Beta (Jan 25, 2002)
I've never seen such a useful before. It's small and compact and it seems that LAMEr is also very well code-optimzed. Well, I missed also the recorder, but I can accept that, due it's a beta. I'm happy, that LAMEr uses now a text-based configuration and no more the registry. Dudes, if you're searching for a perfect frontend for the LAME encoder, your search ends here if you download LAMEr now!

LAMEr is the most kick-ass Front-End for lame I've ever seen. I'm glad that the author has continued developement. The only sad thing about this BETA is, that the real-time MP3 Recorder, which I LOVED in the previous release, is disabled. I hope it will be enabled in the next BETA.
You should try it out - even if you like RazorLame or any other Front-End.My rating: 6 of 5 :-)
