Does not work as advertised, I have tried to setup like 5 computers, have read the documentation, i can hardly Discover 1 more PC, all of my firewalls are off in my lab, decided to stop trying. Looked promising. would call it alpha too.
Reviewing 0.2.1 Release 1 (Jan 20, 2007)
Who cares if it is still in beta? Is everyone supposed to rate it as if it were perfect, because they MIGHT fix it...eventually?
But in any event, I would call this alpha, not beta. Features are not fully implemented (and you will get hard-coded dialogs stating as much, if you poke around enough). Software is not "beta" until it is feature complete, or very nearly so, and ready for testing. This is alpha, not beta.
And those features that have been implemented, are often extremely buggy. Like being bombarded with a slew of strange (literally--the word "strange" is used!) error messages when querying remote processes.
Moreover, there is no way to password-protect machines when using this thing. There is a network key, but once you set that up, anyone can connect whenever they want. I was going to mention this on their forums, but other people already have (even recently), and they seem defiant against adding such an obvious security measure. Makes you wonder.

First, this program is STILL IN BETA. Forgive me if I'm crast to the other users who gave it a low score but come on.
First of all you can install the program as a service via a login script or GP through AD. So the whole 3000+ whine is null. Even put a 'net firewall' command in there for the lantool to get out and in. The ini file needs to be set to NOT show the icon in the tray. But that also can be run with a script.
In combination with MBSA and xVNC(or any VNC perhaps through SSH) or PCAW (encrypted)and regedt32 for remote registry, it's a great little program. You can popup messages to the users, processes running, tell how long the pc's been on in realtime, find ALOT of information in realtime, logged in users, etc. List is to expansive to write out in a short time.
Perhaps you can go to their site and post in the forum suggestions! That would greatly help their work I'm sure.

RPC support in modern versions of Windows already provide this functionality. RDC is not necessary, nor do administrators need to install any software on the client. RPC call examples are trivial and many examples are available in Microsoft's resource kits and administrative tool packs.

Well... My rating is mainly due to the fact you have to install the software on each machine. On my corporate network it would mean installing it on 3000+ computers !
Furthermore I use some others tools wich give me all the infos I need (and more) without installing any piece of software and are also freeware (for example Advance Remote Info). My company also bought the Dameware Utilities...
