@kkowalski and all concerned LinkAssistant users and prospects, as makers of LinkAssistant and SEO SpyGlass tools, we felt it was important to respond to the points raised in the preceding review.
Regarding Live!Plan, we can only say that, just as most major SEO software providers, we do charge users for algorithmic search engine updates. We call them Live!Plan, AWR calls them Maintenance Plan and WebCEO calls them Knowledge Base Updates.
The reasoning for paid search engine updates is as follows: SEO software is accurate only for as long as it reflects search engine algo changes, which occur rather frequently and take our developers lots of time to configure, granted that our software supports 750 search engines and we have to trace changes in each.
Though neither of us SEO software providers shouts about paid software updates on landing page headlines, we do notify users of the recurring fees via disclaimers and software feature descriptions. Our support team is certainly upfront and honest about recurring fees with prospective customers.
As far as we understand, under "link juice" reviewer named kkowalski is talking about the Link Value metric for a backlink. (Please correct us if we are wrong in the assumption.)
The problem is that this metric entails a lot of parameters that may influence its value - PageRank of the page and - just as was noted in the review - of the domain as well, site's age and country (both TLD, hosting, etc), number of links (external, internal, nofollow, ...), number of visitors coming to a page and its bounce rate, and many other factors.
Unfortunately NOBODY in the whole world knows the "right" formula and cannot calculate the Link Value metric correctly. We use some assumptions that we think hold true currently based on our SEO experience and extensive tests of what works in SEO and what doesn't. And we do change this formula slightly from time to time to account for most recent industry changes and trends.
If any reviewer or SEO PowerSuite user has got a "right" algorithm of calculating this metrics, please drop a line to our Link Assistant Support Team - we'll be glad to test out the proposed changes and, if effective, implement them into our tools.
As a last note to the skeptical "kkowalski"reviewer, please read the underlying Kleinberg algo carefully. You will see that the value of the home page's PR is not as big as it may appear at first glance.
Again, we encourage users to write to our support team if you have any questions about the way LinkAssistant and other SEO PowerSuite products function. And by all means do ask our support guys about Live!Plan - they will be glad to walk you through all the recurring costs for each product.

The problem with this software is that costs a lot more than $100 because in order to keep using the program, you have to purchase its monthly maintenance program known as SEO SpyGlass Live! which cost $6.95 per month.
My problem is that the website never explicitly tells you that the software will only operate for six months after which you'll have to purchase its monthly maintenance plan. Instead, they use language like "Service currently includes search engines updates needed for proper extraction of data from the search engines. When you buy SEO SpyGlass, you'll get a free 6 months subscription for the Live! Plan."
WTF! Why not just come out and say something like, "LinkAssistant SEO requires the purchase of the SEO SpyGlass Live! maintenance plan which cost $6.95 per month, the first six of which are free to new members."
Obviously, I was deceived by this new ones in their fine print and actually thought that I could pay a one-time fee of $100 and use the program indefinitely. Boy, was I wrong!
As far as the LinkAssistant SEO application itself goes, I found it easy to use but not as useful as it sounds on the website. Specifically, it doesn't give any weight to the pagerank of a specific link's homepage but instead gives all the link juice to the page the link actually appears on. The reality of Google's algorithm is that the PR of a link's homepage has significant value... a point that it's completely lost in LinkAssistant SEO.
