Started in late 2006 (about the time Vista was being upchucked) and spent much of 2007 distro-hopping and making the switch to GNU/Linux.
I'm having the time of the my life, was able to replace every program from my Windows desktop — many of which were supported or are now webware/in the cloud, and I haven't looked back. Best of all, I get to chuckle at all the depressing Windows news without a care.
Mind you, this page is just Linux (kernel only). But for the occasional troll who still doesn't know what's on the Linux desktop, start with Compiz. Here's one comparison between Vista Aero and Compiz, which is now over a year old!

Most people use Windows because they don't know any better since that is usually what comes with their new systems. They think that PCs and Windows are like Macs and OSX. One and the same.

You can now get Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 in a Linux version and Google has made it so that Photoshop CS2 will work under WINE. I know that Photoshop Lightroom will install and run under WINE.

people like windows more because they got used to it. but linux's modular structure offers more stability and security. although many linux distributions seem to be not as easy to configure as windows, some of them, like mandriva and ubuntu are designed for the end-user.
@internetworld7: even vista is much better then leopard... by the way, i never saw macs outside the us...
