LiteStep is an alternative shell for windows. That means it completely replaces the taskbar, desktop, and start menu. It uses modules to replace these functions and to create more and a variety of !bang commands to activate things in a variety of ways. It has a learning curve, so first time users will need to do some reading.

Litestep is the best shell replacement ever. If every application was as flexible as litestep computer world would be a dream.
Don't let the preconfigured thems put you off, because you can make your own themes, that fit exactly your need, in a matter of hours. Possibilities are endless, with tones of modules and thousands of "easy to grasp" parameter. really i would love to see the litestep approach adopted in shell design and software design in general.

The capabilities of Litestep is unlimited.

It may require a long learning curve but if you consider the time spent on different applications such as widget software, this is worth the effort.

Also it is real simple to create a Windows like environment. Additions may require some time to learn.

It is much more stable than native Windows shell and it uses less resources.

I just recently tried Litestep and I am impressed with it. I doubt that I'll be going back to explorer! Lite is so much easer on the resources and still has more feature than explorer! I'm sticking with Litestep!!

Iswitched to Litestep in 1998, and been using it 24/7 since then. It keeps amazing me how much Litestep has progressed, but what most calls my atention is that it keeps getting better on each release.

I love Litestep. I've been using it instead of explorer.exe for months now. I consider myself moderately computer literate. I know more than people who think the big blue E icon is the only way to use the internet but if complex computer language and procedures lose me. So I loved Litestep but sometimes the installation of themes threw me. Litestep Installer makes things so much easier. The NetLoadModule is sent from Heaven. Since I started using it I haven't had a single crash using Litestep. So a definite 5 stars.
