It's great that there are programs like this to help people see what information is in their files, and to help protect privacy. However, this program isn't looking too great right now. It only scans 1 file at a time (but so far it just freezes, thinking for a long time without showing any results) and I get an "invalid class string" error whenever I run it. You can't shut it off when it freezes either, because it asks you to wait until the analyzing is finished when you try to close it!

There's a better program available called Workshare TRACE! http://fileforum.betanew...tail/TRACE/1120765145/1 which scans full directories at a time, gets results quickly and runs without problems. It's also a standalone executable; you don't need to install it, you just run it, so it works on USB devices too. However, it doesn't have an option to remove the metadata for you; it just shows you what files have metadata, and what kinds they have. To see your user information in a .doc file in OpenOffice.org, click on "File" and then "Properties". You can view and choose to delete user information from that screen.

Anyway, a rating of 1 for Metadata Analyzer unfortunately, because it's not even working and even if it was, it still only scans 1 file at a time. Also, even when you uncheck the option to have a desktop shortcut made when you install it, it still makes a desktop shortcut that leads you to their web site to buy their commercial product.
