"This DVD5 ISO image is intended for administrators that need to download multiple individual language versions of each security update"

Wouldn't those admins be the ones MOST LIKELY to already be running WSUS and therefore the LEAST LIKELY to need this !?!?!?!

Dear Microsoft, What we normal folks at home or small business need is a free WSUS lite that we can run on one of our PC's so we can update the other 2 or 10 pc's without needing to download all the updates over and over. -Also- We need an ISO image that contains ALL the updates since Win7 SP1 so that when we build a new system we can apply all the updates at once. (I'm sure Microsoft reads these reviews B-)

There will be no Service Pack 2 upgrade for Windows 7. Microsoft announced that awhile back.

Oodles upon oodles on top of oodles of Microsoft.NET security updates for July 2013. When .NET was first introduced way back when, described by MS as "a set of tools", I knew it would end up being a disaster.

When I see how easily & quietly Linux updates with a re-boot being a rare occasion compared to the hassle of each 'Patch Tuesday' it does make me think more & more the 1% of the population using Linux have got it right & how messed up MS Windows really is -

MS couldn't organize a booze up in a brewery - And yet more fixes for .NET Framework which I hate with a passion ~

I repair PC's for a living and get alot of windows 7 re-installs and windows update fails miserably, usually have to do a few at a time and takes very long. As the person below said why can't you make the update scan the PC with a third party software and install the updates off the ISO? the bandwidth and time this would save,,,, but then again MS hasn't been well know to actually listen to what thew user wants...

I was under the impression that this disk would scan a system then install its updates accordingly.

Unless I didn’t burn the ISO correctly it is a manual thing and time consuming.

There doesn’t seem to be that many updates. I guess it’s just updates for Feb of 2012 and not all the important updates from the last year or so.

I tried the last one (for xp). Of the 200+MB file all it had was a less than 2mb update. Better off with simply using windows update via ie which is more all inclusive to your own setup.

This is a really useful thing to have especially if you install windows on several computers. My home has 4 computers and this saved me a lot of time when I upgraded to Vista. (which by the way works flawlessly. SP1 is a major improvement, even though transfers over network is still slow).

As mentioned this is not intended for home users. This is just a collection of all the "latest" updates in every language for system administrators and such. There's no reason for the average person to download this. For it's intended purpose it's fine, but I'm really not sure why it's posted on Betanews.

hmmm, how do you rate this? I rate it as 5 for the intended purpose, 0 for the normal user. The benefit for the normal user is nil, its not what its intended for. Going by the reviews here people misunderstand the intentions of this image. Its really only beneficial to system administrators, especially those that have to deal machines that have different languages on them.

wingo,
I the autopatcher hotfixes with the nlite hotfix integration thing... most of them do integrate well... If you are having trouble selecting all the hotfixes. use winrar to package them all in a rar/zip and extract without restoring folder info, so they're all in one folder. This makes it easy to to mass select hotfixes in nlite.

utomo

utomo reviewed vSeptember 2006 on Sep 12, 2006

It is too big to download this file. microsoft need to provide single download which cover all. somthing like Sp3 maybe will be better.
otherwise people will choose autopatcher which will make our live easier

Contains 6 patches and then download a ISO file 194Mb big? No thanks, let us just wait for servicepack 3 cdrom for our XP in our own language. This is just, as earlier said, for companys with several systems in use, not intresting for the home-user because of the unessary big download

wingo

wingo reviewed vMay 2006 on May 10, 2006

Well this is the best if YOU NEED IT!. autopatcher is not useful with nLite so its of no use for me, besides autopatcher is not released as often as ms hotfixes. =)

Staff_Tech01

Staff_Tech01 reviewed vMay 2006 on May 10, 2006

Forget this and go with Autopatcher...Not only do you get critical and non-critical updates but you also get some useful tweaks as well...

Why don't they release a single ISO like the first two releases? This is more work/confusing than before!

As it has already been said : download this only if you need multiple languages of these patch...

If you do not need multiple localized versions on patches it is better to download individual files ;)

All but the last KB is for Windows XP. However, this set of ISOs (all are "required") contain the various versions of each security release, but for a number of languages that are supported by Windows.

That's why these are so big, because some of them contain 24 copies of the patch, one for each language supported.

If you are supporting multiple language versions of the OS, then this would be for you. If not, then just follow the links for the MSxxx that are there to download each of the patches individually for your own language.

I don't get it, there are 6 different ISO's, which one should I get for WinXP? It's not clear, I've read the whole page.

OMG? There are 5 different ISOs, overall size 1.8+ GB. And only six security updates.
Waste of time and space, I think.
