Well, I haven't downloaded this new service pack. For one reason, I got the feeling that it would take a while to install and later uninstall since you have to uninstall it before you install the final version.
But my main concern is that I recently read that this new update would slow your computer down a bit because of all the programs running. Is this true?

You will read below that when I downloaded this file I had no idea what next to do with it. It is now fully installed with the aid of DAEMON Tools a virtual cd/dvd-rom emulator. This was a straight-forward matter and not unlike a normal download and install. I now wonder what the purpose for the image file is. Is it to keep us less technically challenged off-limits? Thanks Microsoft. I'm not a developer or programmer but I do enjoy the cutting edge of the technology. Have a go if you feel somewhat intimidated.

The reviews below are not even reviewing the download - then again, this is nothing new.

For me, this was great. It does download as a IMG file. I used WinISO to extract it. Once installed it fixed things that the first SP2 (beta) had issues with. What I like most is that it puts the Media Player to 9, MS Installer to 3, and DirextX to 9. The firewall is setup really nice too. Remember though, this is just for testing, it's not perfect, I haven't crashed yet but everything works.

No, this is NOT SP2. It's a developer's tool for testing software compatibility with the to-be-released Windows XP SP2. So stop b****ing, without this, maybe your favourite player or file thingie, or generally your most used software won't work in XP SP2. IT'S A DEVELOPMENT TOOLS, it's not for users, but for developers (software writers, ok?).
