Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool 2.0
Publisher's Description:
Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool checks your computer for infection by specific, prevalent malicious software (including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom) and helps to remove the infection if it is found. This tool will help to remove specific, prevalent malicious software from infected systems. Because computers can appear to function normally when infected, Microsoft advises you to run this tool even if your computer seems to be fine. In addition to using this tool, you should use an up-to-date antivirus product to help protect your computer from other malicious software.

I am glad M$ is taking the initiative to try and combat the elements of online living. I haven't experienced any malware yet, so either I am not getting it, other apps are working, or this app is working. Until it does something wrong, I say bring on the malware scanners!!

In today's news:
"Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal Tool removed game password-stealing software from more than 2 million PCs in the first week after it was updated to detect these programs on June 10."
Yeah, I approve.

"Do you *really* want Microsoft to determine if its competitors' software is malware or not, and subject to removal?"
Yup, count me in. Does what it says on the tin, does it well, and never gave me any problem whatsoever. 5 from me.

Yep, it does what it says it does. I for one welcome it, as it is not an extra resource hog and does a one-time scan (unless you manually run it again).

Microsoft's history in this area has not been spotless."

Yes, I do want that. You'd be hard pressed to find any software that is "spotless".
