It sucks, I've installed on my XP and on my Vista (2 different computers), and since then I get A LOT of explorer.exe errors when I right click a folder.
I've desintalled , rebooted the computers and...surprise!! errors are gone, everything is working perfect.

Easy to select what you want and don't want
Wish more of MS products went through better betas like the live suite.

It'd be nice if the installer actually worked, instead of installing only half of what is requested. I've never understood how the wealthiest company in the world can't seem to do downloads!

Excellent suite of tools. The E-mail client has a nice clean look to it and it's nice to have Hotmail access back plus you know that Google aren't arrchiving and searching your personal e-mail.
Live Photo Gallery is what Photo Gallery should have been in Windows though TBH.
Onecare family protection does do its job to a point although I found it a bit of a pain to set up but having not tried any other similar programs, I can't compare it.
In short, a nice set of tools without the privacy worries of the Google equivalent. Gets a 4 because they should have been part of Windows Vista in the first place instead of being a backdoor way to update Vista apps and provide some Vista functionality in XP.

ajua, actually it IS the same installer. All the Windows Live products are downloaded through the same stub installer. Annoying, but that's one of the reasons why I won't give it higher than 3.

why MS is releasing the same installer under different program names? they should stick to this Live Suite name and ditch the other names so people doesn't get confused and start downlading all the same installer.
Live Writer and Messenger are good programs. Live Mail is good if you don't use another client for reading your email.

Despite being promised a few months ago that x64 and Server 2003 support would be included in the "next" build, there is still no support for XP x64 or Server 2003.
Very, very bad call by the Windows Live Installer team.

That said, the Windows Live Suite itself is fantastic. The apps are very easy to use and fully featured.

Disappointing. Needs internet connection, but doesn't make this obvious. No option to just download individual installers for use on other PCs that might not be connected to the internet at that moment. Not easy to simply select what you want to install BEFORE you actually install it (for example I have Windows Live Mail beta and Windows Live Messenger 8.1 already on it, it preceded to try and update these without asking me if I wanted it to be updated, doh!).
Doesn't uninstall Windows Mail as the previous reviewer claims though (it removes the icons but leaves the files on the system).

There are accessibility issues with this package. It is not easy represented what is happening in the installer. I tried running this yesterday and because of the placement of the download status I thought nothing was happening for the longest time. I had to come back and try again later and I noticed the status indications with my mouse cursor. Great going ms! Note for vista users: if you install windows live mail, it uninstalls the mail program the OS comes with. Great going MS. Fix these idiotic bugs, and maybe you'll get a higher rating from me.
