Midori is a Web browser that aims to be lightweight and fast. It is based on WebKit, the same layout rendering engine used by Safari. It offers standard features such as a tabbed interface, support for bookmarks, browsing history and a customizable built-in search engine. It's also fast, and doesn't require installation รข?? you can even run it from a USB key.
- Disable page cache with < 352 MB RAM
- Display filename in download dialog
- Fix box packing in GTK+3 (in most cases)
- Enable experimental HTML5 fullscreen API
- Harden IPv6 address recognition in location
- Experimental site data policy support (see FAQ)
Reviewing 0.4.1 (Oct 14, 2011)
On Xubuntu, Midori is a very decent alternative to Chrome. On Windows, its notable lack of features doesn't make it very interesting and there are better solutions.
Reviewing 0.4.1 (Oct 12, 2011)
I don't like having to open a sidebar to get to bookmarks. It has a problem with flash & won't load it on anything but youtube & that is a hit & miss situation. It is fast & they are on the right track with this, but it does need some work. I want to control my browser & not have it control me. Please add a bookmark button with a drop down listing & fix the flash player & I will be happy.
