NetCaptor turns the browser world upside down. Unlike other browsers which only view one site at a time or crowd multiple windows together, it opens sites on separate browser tabs.
- Import/Export Favorites feature has been turned off as MS disabled that functionality in Windows XP SP2
- The search bar now allows you to choose from different search engines
- Fixed problem where NetCaptor would not translate itself at startup
- Fixed problem where "Welcome to NetCaptor" would show every time you run NetCaptor, not just the first time
- CTRL + K now sets focus to the search bar
- Mhtml protocol no longer blocked
Reviewing 7.5.4 (Jun 28, 2006)
I Used to use this back when there was less good alternatives. I found it did crash/freze more than I liked & hated that it hid toolbars that had been previously installed into IE.
I also liked that powermarks supported it.
As I said, in the past there was not much alternative. Nowadays I can use the excellent Firefox with the 'IE Tab' extension meaning I'm surfing in a safer, more standards compliant tabbed browser & for those rare times when a page absolutely must be rendered in IE I just hit IE Tab in Forefox & voila the page is re-rendered in IE but from within an existing tab in Firefox.
Kiss stinking pile of dogsh*t IE Bye Bye...
Opera 9 is also an excellent hoice but you will still need to drop back to IE for those rare times unfortunately.
Netcaptor is now redundant IMHO
Reviewing 7.5.4 (Dec 19, 2005)
I have used many browsers over the years. I come back to Netcaptor because its the best IE based browser I have tried. While may primary browser is Opera right now, I still will be using this quite often.
Reviewing 7.5.4 (Mar 1, 2005)
I tried it, it's really good, but maxthon does the same work for free.
Reviewing 7.5.4 (Feb 20, 2005)
Its still a nice old friend.
i use MYIE , Avant ,Opera and Firefox ,but sometimes i go to Netcaptor.
Reviewing 7.5.4 (Feb 20, 2005)
This 7.5.4 version has a couple of bugs with its internal search bar that needs to be worked out, and users should either wait for 7.5.5 or stick with 7.5.3 for now. Otherwise, NetCaptor is an example of great design — all of its most often-used features are 1 or 2 clicks away. Highly programmable, and its extremely clean interface is a big plus.
NOTE: Since you guys (below) have all but admitted you've never even installed NetCaptor, and you're here only to promote Firefox at the expense of trashing NetCaptor's ratings, then your adding nothing but comment spam here.
Reviewing 7.5.4 (Feb 19, 2005)
speed?
Wow now if that isn't the concern of someone who goes out and uses IE and then complains about the spyware. You pay for a browser like IE just cause it has tabs you need help. There is a program that will slap tabs on to IE if you really want them. Seriously though go with opera. You'll get the most secure browser and the only one that obeys w3c standards for free.
Reviewing 7.5.3 (Nov 7, 2004)

Reviewing 7.5.3 (Nov 6, 2004)
NetCaptor is fast and plays well with other apps, including search bars like Google, Yahoo, et al. With an uncluttered and efficient interface and feature set, NetCaptor has what Maxthon, Firefox, Safari and others have yet to achieve — SPEED. The price for registering the Pro version is well worth it, unless you're cheap and only into free, bloated software.
Reviewing 7.5.1 (May 12, 2004)
It´s a good browser. It was Netcaptor that introduced me to tabbed browsing. But Firefox does it for less money. But I would recommend the next generation in browsing - Irider. It costs money too but it´s the only browser with a whole new aproach to tabbed browsing.

Reviewing 7.5.1 (May 11, 2004)
Imagine MyIE2 well-organized, super-easy to use, and with sensible keyboard shortcuts — this is what NetCaptor is. Better yet, it blocks popups better than all the others. I also love how deeply layered security and privacy features, such as Scripting and ActiveX — are just one click away. Until someone beats this browser, it's my favorite. (Mozilla, take some usability notes and speed tips from NetCaptor!)

Reviewing 7.5.0 Gold (Dec 18, 2003)
Nothing new here. It might be the 'original tabbed browser', but that doesn't make it better than the others. I've been using MyIE2 for a couple years, and it has a much more user friendly interface than NetCaptor. For instance, in MyIE, to open a new tab from a link, you simply hold down the left mouse button on a link and wiggle it, and voila, new tab. In NetCaptor, you have to right click on the link, navigate to Open in New Window. This is the same criticism I have of Firebird, btw. Big difference, MyIE2 is totally free. Time to uninstall NC Gold. Thanks.

Reviewing 7.5.0 RC2 (Dec 13, 2003)
Not a bad proggie - but tabbed windows isn't any sort of break thru. I'm still waiting for a better browser than Firebird - very customisable, all the features you need (pop-up blocker is very, very handy) and very quick to boot! And, what's more, it's not based on IE, so it doesn't look like swiss cheese when it comes to security holes.
Reviewing 7.5.0 RC1 (Dec 11, 2003)

And where is the new stuff, a description, or anything on this program. I originally purchased the program but due to lack of development from the author have had to ditch it. Perhaps if the author can speed up the browser a bit, or add some nice features that it is lacking such as mouse gestures and stuff similar to myie2 I would switch back, but it would have to make a revolutionary step (like from win3.1 to win95). Used to be #1.

Reviewing 7.5.0 Beta 6 (Dec 4, 2003)
I paid for Netcaptor a couple of years ago and I was very happy with it. I have stopped using NC now competely because other browsers have been able to surpasse it. Most notably, MyIE which has the same features as NC but also much much more (and its free). My advice to Adam Stiles is to get crackin' and create the ultimate multi-tabbed browser which surpases all others in features...or get out of the game because there is no reason for anybody right now to use NC over MyIE. Sorry Adam, I was a big supporter for many years but you have been standing still for to long.
Reviewing 7.5.0 Beta 6 (Dec 4, 2003)
I agree with Dennis. Only thing is, Firebird doesn't handle groups as elegantly or with the great features that NC has. Add a couple of features to Firebird, and I dump NC, in spite of being registered.

Reviewing 7.3.0 Beta 4 (Nov 15, 2003)
For the last two years, 99% of my web browsing has been using NetCaptor. There is no doubt in my mind that it is the easiest to use and best tab implementation around.. Having said that, I have recently changed to Mozilla Firebird. I am one of those guys who loves to run many programs at the one time - and even with 1 GIG of RAM, memory runs out quickly (or the hard drive hammers thanks to virtual memory). So Mozilla's small memory foot print, open source and tab pages has recently taken my number one spot for web browsers. I looked at Avant (clumsy), MyIE2 (almost as good as Netcaptor) and any other browser listed in user comments. However, the Internet Explorer engine is bloated - and not as stable as I would like. The only decent alternative broweser engine to Internet Explorer is Mozilla.
Reviewing 7.3.0 Beta 3 (Nov 6, 2003)
It's nice, with some well thought out features, but I've grown to like the Kopassa IE shell much more, since it offers a totally awesome popup blocker, search caps, multiple picture download, etc. The arena is getting very tight I find, so it's hard to stay in one place for very long, but I'm finding myself staying with Kopassa unless NetCaptor catches up.

Reviewing 7.3.0 Beta 3 (Nov 6, 2003)
NC is a great program. I have been using it since the early days, and registered it. It's very refined and fully featured. That said, I use MyIE2, because it's just as good, has more updates, and is Freeware. If I had to give Adam advice on this program, I honestly wouldn't know what to tell him. Should he stay the course, go Freeware, or abandon the program? Dunno! All I know is that his market niche has totally disappeared.

why use this when there's Mozilla and Netscape that have tabbed browser windows too?
Reviewing 7.2.2 (Sep 30, 2003)
I used NetCraptor for years as a registered user. When it was the only tabbed MSIE shell, it was nice to have. But now, with much-better alternatives like MyIE2 around, NetCaptor lags behind and has little hope of catching up. NetCaptor doesn't support RoboForm, Google, or other add-in toolbars, it's still not as stable or as configurable as it should be, it has some really odd and annoying bugs, its development proceeds at a pace that would make you think it was a government project, and it's a $30 browser in a world of free and better alternatives. Besides the "CleanUp" function which includes secure overwriting (which IS indeed a very nice feature), NetCaptor has ZERO advantage over MyIE2--that's just a simple fact.

Reviewing 7.2.1 (Jul 27, 2003)
Adam's NetCaptor is very robust and stable, he was 6 years ago first who started to use multiwindow idea for browser (former name was SimulBrowse). Since that others realized how great idea it is and idea become standard for modern browsers. And i like NetCaptor for stability and MyIE2 for feature richness. What to think about Avant i don't know it's ok but nothing special on it. But they are definitely top3 in IE tabbed browsers.
Reviewing 7.2.1 (Jul 26, 2003)
NetCaptor is still the best, and was indeed th efirst browser with tabs and some other nice features. How would you like it if others stole YOUR ideas? Look at MyIE2. It's a great browser, but tjat's only because it's nearly a 1:1 knockoff of NetCaptor. Adam has busted his a** on Netcaptor, and deserves the support. bobad at charter dot net

Used to be good, but now, it has this whole "Patent Pending" thing...Patenting 'browser tabs'....yeah right...Gimme a break!
Plus, claiming to be the "original", is not always a good thing, especially when it comes down to technology...think about it.
Try to innovate (okay, again) instead of crying "Patent!" and "Original!"

Reviewing 7.2.0 (Jun 9, 2003)
One of the best browser. However, some free/open source products are also very powerfull now. As an example, all "necaptor's" options (I mean options that made netcaptor a revolutionary browser few years ago) are built in Mozilla or available by the way of extensions (tabbrowser extension is a good one).

Great Broswer! I've been using this for several years now and I'll never go back to IE. Avant Browswer also looks good, but lacks a lot of the goodies from NetCaptor. Netcaptor as intelligent PopUp killer, URL blocker!!, auto-sliding leftside menu and much, much more!
Reviewing 7.1.0 Beta 2 (Jan 12, 2003)
Its a very good program. I used it for a very long time. Then I found myie2. It had a few better features, so you should try it, but netcaptor is also one of the best browsers out there. Both are very stable, and have a few really good features!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reviewing 7.1.0 Beta 2 (Dec 24, 2002)
Off Topic, but I agree, Proxomitron rules. I prefer MyIE to all the others listed, I've tried them all. I guess a user gets used to an interface and tends to stick with the program's updates. I used to use NetCaptor, before I found the free tabbed browsers.

Version 7.10 b1 works like a charm. No problems with heavy memory load here. 6 pages are loaded and Netcaptor uses 13 MB memory.
Also the new support for IE extension (e.g. flashget) work fine.
Also used CrazyBrowser and MyIE2 but I keep coming back to Netcaptor.
Reviewing 7.0.2 Beta 3 (Oct 22, 2002)
I really like NetCaptor, but it has a serious memory leak - especially when then CaptorBar is used. Right now, NetCaptor is using 132MB of RAM, with only this page loaded. Otherwise, it has great features which I really appreciate. And the User Interface is top notch.
Reviewing 7.0.2 Beta 2 (Sep 26, 2002)
NetCaptor is nothing special for a shareware product. Besides the problems that some people mentioned, and some free alternatives I don't like the fact that my download manager (Flashget) cannot integrate with it. I also noticed that it is not too stable with Windows XP.
Reviewing 7.0.2 Beta 2 (Sep 17, 2002)
I can not give more than 4 ( I have been a beta tester for this program since the first generation.)
Because of 2 reasons.
A - Delphi's limitation.
B - MS does not share resources.
====================
Worst
1--Netcaptor crashes under XP when (VirtualDub or TMPGEnc
or Nero is running. ) Adam cannot replicate. So there is
no way of fixing. This Access violation started since Netcaptor 7.)
Note: I cannot test Netcaptor when I am encoding avi to MPG
or burning VCD or SVCD discs with Nero..as Netcaptor keeps on spitting out access violation windows. And eventually,
(if you don't close them), it can freeze XP and ruine
several hours of encoding. (sigh)
Mid-range Problem ( As this happens to other competitors
(Opera, Crazy Browser, MyIE, Fastbrowsers, etc, I call it
mid-range problem.
Unlike Netscape and Internet Explorer, no browsers can handle unicode entriesl. Ex. Go to Chinese, Japanese, Korean
site, and save the site in Favorites. Very often, these sites use unicode for entries, thus, saved favorites do not
correctly show entries. ex. Go to http://www.asahi.com/
and do "Add to favorites", entry will show japanese katakana, saved url will be perfect if you used Internet Explorer. If your OS is Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Explorer will show the entry with unicode correctly. And
double click will take you back to the site in IE.
Other browsers I mentioned, will save url with ??????
thus, explorer will show the entgry as ???????. Double click
will take you nowhere. ( Limitation of Delphi)
Reviewing 7.0.2 Beta 1 (Sep 14, 2002)
The best browser upgrade available. Adam busts his a** developing and supporting this program and has saved me a lot of time and money, so I don't mind the $25 reg fee. I would definately recommend it to anyone still connecting at 56k. The URL Blocking and Popup blocking will save a lot of bandwidth wasted by advertisements and background sounds.
Reviewing 7.0.2 Beta 1 (Sep 14, 2002)
Look, I checked out Crazy Browser and MyIE so I could render an honest opinion for you. The least you can do is to check out NetCaptor for yourself. What did you say about not being qualified to comment on Crazy Browser and MyIE? It works both ways. There are dozens of little things, more than I can list here. Here's some nagging ones that ruin Crazy Browser for me just now: When you open a new group, the old group does not automatically close. The tabs can not be custom-named, so they take on the page descriptions, which are usally incomprehensible. There are no aliases. There are no extensions and thus no file associations for the Crazy Browser groups. That's enough, but there's lots more. (bobad@charter.net)
Reviewing 7.0.2 Beta 1 (Sep 13, 2002)
So, for $25 (with the discount), what exactly do you get that you don't get in MyIE2 or Crazy Browzer?
Reviewing 7.0.2 Beta 1 (Sep 13, 2002)
I rate this right in the middle. I prefer to use Myie2 since it is FREE. I don't know why some people said it costs money, as it is FREE. Maybe you saw that it is taking DONATIONS now? NetCaptor, firstly costs way too much money, because I can do much more with Myie2 or CrazyBrowser than with NetCaptor. You CAN disable in Myie2 sound per pages, active X, java applets, etc. And if you complain about flash and such, and on page ads, why not try something like Proxomitron, which is also free and has its own configurable RegExp lang? Netcaptor may suit some people, but please try for yourself Myie2 or CrazyBrowser. Form your OWN opinions. MOST people who say anything weird/bad about those browsers don't know enough to back up their statements.
Reviewing 7.0.1 (May 23, 2002)
hmm...mea culpa. I notised that I _can_ disable macromedia ads in MyIE and Crazy Browser, but that´d have to be done in Internet Explorer options (disable active X). Btw, too me, after using Crazy browser for awhile, it actually seems to be an exact copy of Netcaptor, in the GUI at least. And thats great, I guess, sinse it´s free.
Reviewing 7.0 Final (May 8, 2002)
I debated what rating to give this program. On the plus side I really like it. There are two huge down sides though. 1) It features do not warrant the $29.95 price tag when there are freeware alternatives that do most(if not all or more) than Netcaptor. I am speaking of MYIE and Crazy Browser. They both have tabs, groups, popup killers, etc. As a matter of fact MYIE is free and has many features that Netcaptor does not. Features such as being able to automatically scroll pages and my favorite mouse gestures. Give it a try. If you have any questions about the program once your run it try the help page. Lots of useful info.

Reviewing 7.0 Beta 5 (Apr 11, 2002)
This program is excellent, and it has a sexier interface than most other browser plug-ins/extenders. The reason I rate it "only" 4 is because it lacks an extremely important feature for me (which is available in competitive products such as Research-Desk and Smart Explorer). That feature is the ability to save the "workspace" or in other words, all the links in all the browser windows that are currently open. This is useful when you suddenly have to restart (after running some security patch/proggie or changing OS settings) in the middle of work. Also useful when u suddenly need much more RAM temporarily, but wanna go back later on to all those cool sites u have open right now. Also useful when you suddenly have a power failure or just a blue screen (not to common these days but STILL occurs).
Reviewing 7.0 Beta 5 (Apr 10, 2002)
It's very fast and uses tabs like Opera, BUT I only give it a 3 because there are no easy available search options, zoom options or a way to import bookmarks from opera. Aslo the huge fullscreen popup along with a netcaptor.exe has been damaged error isn't a turn on. All of the rest of the features are wonderful.

Default browser feature has been working OK for me in the last 2 betas prior to 1.4a. Thank goodness that "stinky lost focus" bug was addressed! I never contacted Adam on this, because I had faith he would find it himself and fix it. NC works so well, I don't really know what to say, and that's a first. Wish List: Perhaps a totally hidden Captor Bar (Like Windows Task Bar), perhaps a more intuitive way to block entire domains with the popup captor such as the doubleclick dot net lamers. Perhaps just a checkbox in the Popup Captor dialog reading "Block Entire Domain Forever If Not Longer". Maybe a custom graphic or text message in the empty banner boxes saying "Eaten By Popup Captor. Yum!". Perhaps an IE style drag-and-drop to the Links Bar. I can not say enough good things about this program, and I'm just as picky as I can be about my software. Thanks, Adam for one of the top 5 shareware programs worldwide! Try it, enjoy it, register it to keep Adam's creatives juices flowing! (bobad@charter.net)

Good program, with tons of useful functions. But the registration fee for a browser add-on is still too high (29,95$).
Reviewing 7.0 Beta 2 (Feb 20, 2002)
1: I am a beta tester for this program. ( So I am very much biased. )
2: Author (Mr.Adam Stiles) corrects tons of bugs whenever we report problems.
The only problem I have encountered these days is that Netcaptor cannot handle Unicode/doublebyte languages. (If you never visit Japaense, Korean, Chinese websites, Netcaptor is still the best. ) Of course, Netcaptor builds on top of IE, you can use encoding to correctly show web pages. If you want to add these sites to favorites, and if webpage only gives you site names in native language, you shall be in trouble. Take Asahi Shimbun for example, http://www.asahi.com/ when you add it, name will be アサヒ・コム and If your OS is XP or W2000, it will be stored as
アサヒ・コム in favorites. Your IE will show it wiht native form. HOwever, Netcaptor's favorite pain only shows it as
xxx-xxxx .. Thus, what it means is that if you click this,
nothing will be loaded. (as Netcaptor cannot read it)
If you Use IE, it will read of course. )
As japan already started using chinese character as part of
domain name, if webbrowser cannot support unicode, we cannot use such web browsers at all. But of course, if you never go to chinese, korean, japanese, etc, you should stick to IE 6.
7.0-beta 2 --Very good.

Yeah - really nice new features ... i used this program since some 5.x version and it was really worth buying it. Only some problems with toolbars after reopen Netcaptor in the Beta1. try it ;)
Reviewing 7.0 Beta 1 (Feb 1, 2002)
Netcaptor is my favorite browser (for many reasons, already given by whelmed).
However, there is a major problem in Netcaptor: its behavior with FTP links (unable to browse, response time very long) .. I was waiting for improvement in this domain few years ago with previous versions ... today, new v7 beta1 .. but waiting again :-(
Note that I'm using also the latest Mozilla builds (wich are multitab now) .. and Mozilla developers are in the good way .. in a very good way.
The couple Mozilla/Multizilla was also great .. but the multizilla project seems in stand by.
Reviewing 7.0 Beta 1 (Feb 1, 2002)
NetCaptor is one of the only shareware programs I have actually gone ahead and spent money on. This is an EXCELLENT browser for many reasons, such as:
(1) Create your own Captor Groups and open a bunch of related sites at once (while closing down all the other sites you were just looking at).
(2) Create your own Quick Search feature. For example, if I type "eb beatles cd" in the address line, an eBay search is run for Beatles CDs on eBay. I don't have to go to eBay and type something in the eBay search box. VERY handy.
(3) Address Tools now allow you to find related pages to the one in the active window, look up domain registration information, look up a history of the website's evolution, and more.
(4) TABS TABS TABS. Are you sick and tired of doing Ctrl+N to get a new web page open so you can go to a new site while keeping another one open? Are you sick of having five or ten different IE or Netscape windows across the task bar? NetCaptor allows you to have multiple windows open using a TABBED browser format. Why Microsoft has not implemented this is beyond my understanding. And if you minimize your browser, you can have it minimize to the system tray so that it doesn't even sit in your task bar!
Buy this browser. You will not be disappointed and you'll never use any other browser again (not Opera, not IE, not Netscape). I'm not kidding.

It's a tiny little line at the bottom, and the rest of the program is so useful, it by far offsets that little ad. I don't even see it, tell you the truth.
The multiple tabs are what makes this program so cool. I can go to links on pages and have them load while I'm still reading the first page. Yes, research, call it what you will.
Someone complained about the Captor groups slowing things down. Yep, but if you click on a group, go get a cup of coffee, hit the head, when you're back, they're up. Even better on broadband I would guess. I'm using 56K.

Does anyone know of a way to get rid of the ads in 6.5.0 Beta 6?
Reviewing 6.5.0 Beta 6 (Jun 21, 2001)
Finally, a classy way to pay for free software. I've enjoyed NetCaptor for a couple years by disabling the moving ads in the top of the window, but now I can use this awesome piece of software guilt free. The tiny little text ads at the bottom of the screen are a very small price to pay for this browser.
Reviewing 6.5.0 Beta 6 (Jun 21, 2001)
This is a great and easy to use program. I own the full verison. There is nothing out there better for doing resarch on the internet. Captorgroups and the tab structure are a great innovation. It's really stable too.
Reviewing 6.5.0 Beta 4 (May 9, 2001)
PimpDaddy-Z, I am aware of the tabs. That's not at all what I'm talking about. What I mean is that all the tabs (pages) download with the same priority, meaning they all finish very slowly and at about the same time. I wish the tabs could be given a loading priority for at least 1 tab per Captorgroup, so one would finish quickly. That way you could start reading that one while the rest load. Right now, it's feast or famine! (bobad@mindspring.com)
Reviewing 6.5.0 Beta 4 (May 9, 2001)
Hey, bobad & anyone else unaware of this...if you look at the tabs for each page you will see a colored box...either red, yellow or green. Red=page not available yet, Yellow=loading, Green=ready to go. That way you don't have to flip through browser tabs to see which page is loaded. About the beta 4 itself...not bad at all. Fairly stable & works wonders for me at work where I need to have multiple browser windows open. I tend to dig the betas better...no Web3000 :-)
Reviewing 6.50 Beta 2 (Apr 27, 2001)
Awesome! One thing I wish for is a "priority" for loading order within the captor groups. That way you can start reading a certain page while the rest load instead of flipping pages to see which is loaded. Here's a tip: Get $5 off the price if you mention you got the program from www.fileflash.com. (bobad@mindspring.com)

This new version of Netcaptor is AWESOME.
The ads in the free version are gone!
The forward & back buttons have drop down histories, and of course, the multi-tab interface is still there, allowing you to easily open all of the favourites in a folder at the same time.
Not only that, but on top of the old pop-up blocker, the new version features url blocking, so you can block doubleclick and other such sources of annoying adds & popup windows completely!

Ok if you people are having any embedding or taking over by bloat adware etc. there are solutions to excorcise this jewel. It is quite nice once it has been tamed. I didnt want flyswat but it tried to embed. I used adaware to remove all but the simpleregistration timelink and then I rebooted and simply deleted that . Then I went to options and told it not to load that crap. Then I used systems mechanic which BTW is the sweetest win2kpro util out there to clean up any mess . Now we see where we go from here but other than missing some of the small items mentioned in other reviews it is just what it needs to be, Functional and with a decent memory no less. So in conclusion after an hour or so I will be able to say if it doesn't suck but I am fairly sure at this point and trimmed down that in fact doesnt suck : )

I have a registered version ...so there are no ads.)
2. A popular program called "Gator" does not work. Gator has no intention of supporting Netcaptor. (Confirmed by mail from Gator) I am suggesting author to incorporate Gator function in Netcaptor......
3. There are some minor bugs...but author responds very
fast. (Even if you are not a beta tester, give Mr.Adam Stiles your problems...)
4. Unlike Opera, Netcator is global/international ready. It can handle all sorts of foreign languages as long as you had installed language packs under IE. However, it cannot add "encoding" icon unlike IE.

Jinno theres no reason why Netcaptor should even assume that if I made there program the association for html files and so on that I would never use IE again. IE is seamlessly integrated into windows and yet Netcaptor seems to cripple it. Plus ontop of that it crashed 4 times for me in a matter of 5 minutes. Then ontop of that it kept closing my main window that had a popup on it that I had added to popupcaptor and yes I checked for the main windows url in popupcaptors list cause I know some moron is gonna ask me that..Its simple this thing is a piece of trash. Interface is very nice but you need to totally work on the bugs in this thing. Stop the new features and focus primarily on the bugs to even get it somewhat reliable..

Netcaptor 6 is what Netscape 6 should have been. Inovative.
I could never get IE 5.1 to download all my pages at once
right. Netcaptor downloads 8 pages quicker than IE 5.1 does 4. It also keeps "loading web pages" from poping up while your reading and if to many uninvited web pages popup(XXX sites) you can close them "ALL" with a button. A Anti-PopUp feature, AD Blocker and better Cookie handling (denied all cookies except option) would be nice.

Just curious... What is the difference between having tabs at the bottom of the program and having multiple Windows of IE open, and just use the buttons on the Windows Taskbar?
It just seems silly that this is a feature, when Windows inherently does this for you. Why take up more screen space with another row of tabs(buttons)?
Maybe most users don't realize that they can have more than one browser window open, which is basically what this app is doing.
I'm open to enlightenment, as I am truly curious...

Failure to put up with the ads is no reason to stop using NetCaptor. Here's how to uninstall the Web3000 Network app that provides the ads:
Install NetCaptor v6.0 as usual.
Use regedit to remove 'Licenced Apps' in key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\web3000.com\w3knet.
Use Add/Remove Programs to uninstall Web3000 Network. -No ads!
Reviewing 6.0 (Apr 7, 2000)
Well, one can remove those ads pretty easy. Install it. Copy netcaptor directory to some other place. Uninstall it. Copy back and recreate shortcut. Done. At least works for me.
Reviewing 6.0 (Apr 6, 2000)
This is what I wrote to Stilesoft...
Ok, I'm #$&*&%* mad about this one. You've put little ads in the top part of Netcaptor 6. Fine, great. No big deal. But you put the ads in Internet Explorer(5.01[128encryption]) AND Netscape Navigator(7.2[128encyption]) as well! Do you care to explain that one to me? Your ads=your browser only! Got it?
Second problem. Loading up the program. What's with the weird graphic load up sequence where I see the two Menu bars on top of each other for a half second and then disappearing with the correct Menu bar finally put in the right place? I would have thought that you would have fixed this and made the load up sequence a bit cleaner by now.
The third problem annoys me the most. In the upper right corner where the two close tab X options are, they disappear when I place the address bar and the tool bar on the same line. Here's exactly how I have always wanted to
have my menu configured. I have everything on one line starting on the left with the Toolbar that includes New, Back, Forward, Stop, and Home. I would have the Menu bar right next to the Tool bar with the Address bar right after that with the close options at the end. I have no clue why you have to have that stupid Netcaptor icon at the end of the row. It takes up space where it could be used to see a little bit longer Address bar when I’m clicking through ten or fifteen tabs at a time. And trust me, all of the new Menu selections don’t impress me either. Edit and View should be together and so should File and Tools. Go and Tabs are pretty much useless for me in my opinion. You really should let users choose which menu selections they want visible or not. Oh yeah, and I totally disabled Flyswat at the time as well for obvious reasons.
I’m also a favorites menu organizer junkie. Adding that Open All Favorites kind of takes the point out of having captor groups somewhat. My main complaint is that you should have had the first Favorites link lined up with the folder link instead of how it is presently. I usually have four or five sub folder groups so it’s kind of hard for me to get used to it this way. I always have to remember to move the mouse curser a little lower than I normally do. It’s something that I’m going to have to get used to, but
shouldn’t Netcaptor make my web browsing experience easier instead of harder? Me thinks so.
And what the heck happened to being able to move the tabs around in any order that I wanted? Having these all tab locked in place now does not help me out when I’m looking at pictures that I want to see in a particular order. Could you add this back in please?
As soon as you get these problems resolved or explained to me on your website a little clearer I’ll defiantly consider buying the Pro version. It also depends(slightly) on one other thing. I want to know how committed you are to port Netcaptor to Netscape as soon as it becomes stable and explain to everyone what that version is going to look like (i.e. exactly like the current version or with less features). I use 98lite and I have been wanting to eliminate I.E. all together for a long time now. 98lite 3.0 + Netscape Netcaptor 6 = me very happy!
Overall, this is a nice product you got here. Bye!

While the previous release (Beta 5) was exceptional (see my rave review below) I'm disappointed with Beta 6. Beta 6 hiccups constantly, locking up, and requiring a CTR-ALT-DLT to end it. Tried re-booting, running it by itself, turning the Fly feature off, running MemTurbo to ensure aufficient memory, etc, etc, but when viewing multiple pages (sometimes as few as two) Netcaptor locks up within a matter of minutes, usually while attempting to load data. I'm disappointed, but the app's too good to give up on. I've used the supplied unistall option to return to Beta 5 and it's running smooth as ever (well, even it has an occasional glitch but, hey, these are Betas, right) I'm sure that the developers, with their track record, will eventually get things ship-shape. Until then, I'll be more than happy with Beta 5.
Reviewing 5.50 Beta 6 (Feb 17, 2000)
Great program! The ability to open the 25 computer related sites that I visit daily with just 1 click is a godsend.
It's not perfect however. They really do need to fix the back button so that it can display the previous pages visited, like Explorer does. It's a great tool, but I still prefer IE5 for when I wander around the web.

Well, well,WELL! I am very impressed with this browser! You all know what it does compared to the others out there, but remember what happened to Steve Jobs. This browser is getting too much attention ...AND when that happens, companies like Microsoft and AOL might throw these guy a lot of money and then "That's where the fun stops!" If you guys at NetCaptor.com are reading this, "Don't cash in your chickens before the eggs hatch!" You have stumbled on something good here that may make you more money than you'll ever need. And, to reward us users the benefit of not having to use software made by these companies that constantly plague us with bugs, security threats, proprietary issues and updates that eventually slows down the load process. Why I think like this? Well microsoft's browser has issues with there "favorites" folder and I DO know that these issues have been brought to their attention from the millions of beta users testing their 5.5 browser at this moment. Wouldn't it be nice to ADD to their browser the compactity to group indivdual favorite sites and the ability to open then all in "One click of a button?" And the troubles of AOL Netscape, and the attention of this browser equates to (NEW IDEA + skins) * NetCaptor = Netscape 5.0!

Gibbon, Refresh All has been available since at least v5.04. It's Shift+F5, also available from the View menu. However, there is no option to refresh all tabs (or any tab) at a timed interval as far as I know.
Reviewing 5.50 Beta 4 (Jan 22, 2000)
Excellent product, very stable and flexible. The ability to tab web pages is indispensible and the CaptorGroups are a great innovation built on top of the tabbed capability (Power Browser has tabbed capability, but nothing equvalent to CaptorGroups) For the uninitiated: CaptorGroups are groups of user-defined webpages: each group can be brought up with the click of the mouse, and each page within the group will automatically be given it's own tab within NetCaptor)
An example of the usefulness of this feature: I'm an avid Ebay-er. I regularly search several categories for items I'm interested in. However, I usually don't bid on the item in question until the last day of the auction. CaptorGroups allow me to create a list of items I'm interested in tracking. A couple of mouse clicks will instruct NetCaster to display my EBAY WATCH CaptorGroup and each item I'm interested in will appear as a tabbed page within NetCaptor. I've named each tab with a one or two word description as well as the auction ending date. I
My dissatisfactions:
Captor Group management is still clunky. Rather than use the built-in interface I use my fave text editor, EditPad, to view the CaptorGroup file of interest (contained within the CaptorGroups subfolder) and modify it. It's merely a text file, with a simple layout. Modification involves a bit of copying/pasting beteen the browser and EditPad, but I prefer this method over the "Organize Captor Groups" interface. I'll be contacting the developers with some suggestions for improving this feature. From what I've read here, they're receptive to user input.
Another feature that one of the reviewers here mentions: refresh all tabs. I'd put this capability at the top of the list for NetCaptor (I'd put CaptorGroup management on top if it weren't for the work-around I've described)
Finally, in the dissatisfaction category: looks. NetCaptor looks essentially like MSIE, but doesn't even have the MSIE piss-ant capability of assigning a background to the Toolbar. I'm a skin freak and the prospect of the same old dull MSIE interface day in and day out is not appealing. However, if looks were critically important to me I suppose I'd stick with Neoplanet, which, untill i discovered netCaptor, I've used exclusively since early last year. However, I've essentially concluded that in my machine's (WIN98, P2-233, 128 Mbyte SDRAM, STB Lightspeed 128) case excessive eye-candy increases instability significantly. I assume this is due to at least three significant factors:
1. Hardware limitations of my machine
2. WIN98 instability
3. The extent to which eye-candy is part of an app's developement detracts from the effort to create a supremely stable piece of software.
To sum up my "looks" criticism: It's something I miss, but I realize that the software is most likely better off without it. I hope the developer concerns himself with more important aspects of NetCaptor's development.
I'm a Beta junkie and, like most, I get rid of the vast majority of software I play with. However, NetCaptor was an instant hit with me. I'm even considering purchasing it, although $20 does seem steep to me (I guess I've been spoiled by all the free goodies on the "Net)

One of those programs you just have to have, currently in beta for release 5.5 - looking great and coming on strong! Currently the best-rated add-on you can use with your browser per other independent sites. I throw away 90% of what I download - this one's "a keeper"!!!

If you don't like ad, you have 2 choices.
1: Buy the program
2 or become a beta tester. (I have been a beta tester since simulbrowser)...
3 Still no crashes yet. This build is very stable.
4 My rating is still 4+ (not 5 as I really really want to
have Refresh all tabs option which author will include soon)

I am VERY pleased with Netcaptor. I only wonder why Microsoft didn't pickup a tip or two from it. This is the best out there!
Reviewing 5.50 Beta 2 (Dec 10, 1999)
Netcaptor has got to be the BEST browser around! I've been using NC since before it was NC....when it was SimulBrowse. It was great then, but has constantly gotten even better! Stilesoft has done an incredible job with an intelligent application! The ads are NOT annoying...they are well worked into the design of the application(one of the BEST ad-supported formats I've seen!), and besides...if you can't stand the ads....there IS a "pro" version available for a small fee to support the application! My favorite feature of NC has got to be the multiple pages open simultaneously in a "tabbed" environment! The Captorgroups ability to open a group of URLs with one click is incredibly handy, and many, many minor points that make NC far and wide the BEST browser I've used. I won't bother with such "cutesy" browsers as NeoPlanet or any other inept browser...NC is the BEST! The few "limitations" that I see with the program(including lack of drop down history for back/forward buttons, faves/bookmark access/organizing, etc.) are most likely due to MS limitations in the MSIE engine and/or their support for thirdparty development; Stilesoft has done an excellent job at constantly improving major AND minor aspects to the application! I can't brag enough about this browser...it's a MUST HAVE in my opinion! I'd give it a 10(out of 5) on the scale this forum has...it's one of the few incredibly practical and needed applications I've seen over the last handful of years!!! Well done and well worth using!!!

great idea... i'm especially fond of the auto-kill for popup windows and the url completion functions...
however... the non-stop advertising is horrible... i think at max i could use this browser for about an hour before the constant commercials drove me nuts. at least neoplanet doesn't bombard you with things you don't want...

I've been using NetCaptor for past 6 months. It's really great if you need to keep several websites (pages) readily available all the time - the "tabs" are great. I've found only a few dislikes (the history function could use some work), but other than that is very stable (Win98 & WinNT 4) Definitely worth a try if you've not checked it out! And, the customer support is excellent if you have questions or suggestions!

Excellent tile management for multiple windows and filtering system for pop up banners. I recommand this program to all. Main complain is favourites organization and checking history of websites that you have visited (ie tied in to the "back" button).

Utter waste of time, worthless, have tried for over an
HOUR to transfer several files from different people, nothing works, the web pages won't even work with Netscape, what a waste of my time, NOT recommended.

This beta has a few bugs, can't organise favourites being a significant one, but it does add the Links bar to the toolbars section which is a big improvement over the last version.
There is a list of known bugs on netcaptors site, due to be fixed in next weeks beta 2.
